Now to the nitty gritty…
The staff is down to earth, and everything you could want for a hole in the wall bbq joint experience which is supposed to have that community small town fair feel, and they have it here.
The BBQ….
The portions to price is very generous.
Taste, tenderness, and appearance…
My personal FAVORITE was the pulled pork. Very moist and flavorful! Tenderness was perfect, and it as you see looks WONDERFUL!
The burnt ends are technically not traditional burnt ends, but as far as this style that is done by many. Again the moisture and taste was on point. It had fat without being overly fatty like most places that try an cut costs. Visually it doesnt match traditional burnt ends, but omg they were also wonderful.
The brisket was not bad, but it does not hold a candle to the burnt ends and pulled pork. I personally like mine thin, but they are too thin to hold the flavor. The appearance and color was definitely an 7.5 out of 10, but i feel the taste and tenderness can and will improve.
My favorite side was the beans, and I am not a huge bean person. They tasted like they were made at home and not out of a bag. The others were a little on the bland side, but I am excited to see them improve.
The bbq sauce needs some work. I mixed the spicy with the kc in equal portions and OMG it was perfect!! I am excited to see how far they come in another year.
Lastly….FRENCH FRIES ARE FILLER FOOD! Yeah a lot of places offer it, but it IS NOT a BBQ staple!! If you are going to go to a BBQ joint to fill up on fried potatoes….just go McDonald’s and get the McRibb meal!
This place ABSOLUTELY has promise, and I cannot wait to check how they grow from here! Well done guys!
I’ve been here for lunch, love the sausage and burnt ends.
Tonight I left work around 6:00, and stopped by two places off 435, and they were packed.
Then I remembered, Sierra BBQ is open until 7:00.
Walked in at 6:30, got a beer within two minutes and turkey plate in about 5 minutes. Everything was great.
Great alternative to fighting the dinner crowds!
The place is small, but it packs a punch.
His Brisket Sandwich was heaped with juicy slices of the best brisket I have tasted in a long time. I had the Pulled Pork/Pork Belly Sandwich. It was great, but next trip it’s Brisket for me. He had potato salad, I had coleslaw. We both preferred the potato salad.
They offer a variety of coke products and have beer.
Prices are in line with most barbeque restaurants. Their portions are huge.
Additionally, this place is only open Tuesday through Friday, 11am to 7pm.
It’s worth grabbing Que during the week!
I highly recommend!
We came at dinner time, and the place seated a few people, and someone showed up as we left.
I had only one minor issue that should not stop you from going here, and that was that some of the meats were on the dryer side…
The staff was friendly and helpful.
Service was fast.
The meals are served on a tray, novel idea.
Way too much to eat for us, but we knew that was going to be the case!
I enjoyed the sausage and pulled pork.
Oh, we ordered the family platter.
Even the pickles were very good!
So, if you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping in for a meal.

Thank you!
The on-duty manager, I believe his name is Adam, deserves a special shout out. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, guiding us through the options with perfect timing and a friendly demeanor. Adam’s dedication to his craft truly elevated our entire evening, making us feel valued and well-cared for.
Now, let’s talk about the food. The BBQ at Sierra is nothing short of delicious! Every bite was a testament to the art of smoking. Ive tried several different entrees but i am particularly fond of their sandwiches (3 meat). The Spare Ribs, which fell right off the bone and were seasoned to perfection. The brisket was moist and flavorful, and the house-made sides, especially the baked beans, were the ideal complements.
If you are looking for a fantastic meal with service that goes above and beyond, look no further than Sierra BBQ.
Very quick and easy!
I got the Brisket Platter, with toast and a side of Baked beans and potato salad.
4 of us ordered and our food was ready in less than 6 minutes!
I expected more food for the price but it was still a good experience!
Definitely would recommend!
Your pickles and onions are pickled in house. No other BBQ in KC does that to my knowledge. Their sides are not prepackaged. The BBQ is made fresh and sliced to order. Not many BBQ’s have a chef as cook, owner and pitmaster. There is a passion and appreciation for the art of cooking. So as a chef I say to try some of Ryan’s love of the art. You will be happy you did.
I would recommend changing the name to Sierra Elevated BBQ though
