Under new management, the half chicken was phenomenal. They exceeded my expectations, I ordered the half chicken and Dad had the smash burger. The half chicken was juicy and cooked well, with a nice sweet and peppery crust on the outside. They offer regular and spicy BBQ sauce on the side. I paired it with their Mac n cheese which was similar to Outback’s, with the curly pasta, xheese sauce and a nice seasoning crust on top. Very yummy!
Their atmosphere had wood tables and walls, with metal chairs. Some tvs playing sports and a bar with beer on tab. The patio has views of the harbor and water. Very casual, it was quiet on a Saturday so you could hear others when they talked.

Absolutely incredible experience! The food was amazing, some of the best BBQ style food I’ve had in a long while. Tasted very fresh, came out in a timely manner and the service was outstanding! I will absolutely be returning here! Highly recommend the Texas Twinkies!

Fully enjoyed my experience dining on the patio at Sidways. I was immediately greeted and told to sit anywhere I’d like. I opted for a shaded seat outside so I could enjoy the perfect weather and great harbor view. The country music was an amazing bonus.

I had a chopped brisket sandwich. It came dry with an onion, pepper and pickle and my choice of BBQ sauce from the table. I liked building it my way. Really enjoyed the sandwich (espcially the bun and the spicy BBQ sauce). Service was great as well. I’d absolutely go back.

Showed up this morning at 11:07(they open at 11) to the door locked. No problem, I know some restaurants don’t open the doors until the first customer shows up. What really ticked us off was the staff was not only able to see us but made eye contact with us and didn’t open the door. We stood there in the rain for about a minute before the store across the way – Brass Tap – opened their door and told us they were open.

As we walked away – we saw the same team members through the window run to the back – in what we expect is to warn the manager of a negative review – that would be the only thing they did correct this morning.

We stopped in last week for an appetizer and a drink. Server forgot our food and we saw him leave after his shift was done. The very nice waitress realized and brought it to us and comped it.

Seems like sideways needs to address the staffing, training and expectations of service. We were also service industry for years and this wouldn’t fly in any establishment.

We are repeat customers of Sideways but I can assure you we won’t be back. DO NOT COME HERE.

Fun place of the lake. Live music a huge plus. Green beans were tasty as was the burger. Staff was friendly and attentive. Recommend

The food was wonderful! Everyone in our large party (10+) enjoyed their food, and the appetizers we got for the table were great. The service was solid, especially on a busy night. Something we didn’t know going in, however, was that there would be a DJ starting around 9oclock, and the music would be incredibly loud. (Averaging 77 decibels, according to an iPhone app. It was nearly impossible to hold conversations with the people directly across from or next to us while the DJ was playing. We’re from out of state, so we were not familiar with this place going in – there was a schedule of “weekly events” above the bar that listed “live music” for Saturday and Sunday, with karaoke and live music on other nights as well. The Saturday we were there, this was not a live band, but a DJ playing a solid modern country set, but the loudness of this DJ music never truly subsided, which was a bit frustrating. The bright side of our visit was that the food was so good, and if we had been able to go earlier in the night to not coincide with this “live music” and make the overall experience more enjoyable.

Ok, new management, here’s the real truth. BBQ was legit. Moist brisket, good bark, not over smoked, seasoned well, sausage was yummy, Mac and cheese was ridiculous, green beans were great, Texas twinkies (jalapeños) were tasty…it is well worth coming and trying this place now. Fabulous change. Now……..if they can just find a different Cole slaw recipe……

The new owners should be proud, get the customers in the door and they will be back.

We ordered an appetizer egg roll with brisket, cream cheese, corn. It was ok, my hubby doesn’t like cream cheese and I can’t eat anything spicy. The pork ribs were dry. I ate the brisket not much flavor but a lot of fat.Macaroni and cheese was thick but not creamy. My husband had the potato salad he said it was tasted bad.
Now to the good stuff, the service was good, the place was clean. We ate outside and you have to deal with the crows diving at you. The view is nice of the lake.
We noticed when we walked in, not to many people eating. All at the bar drinking. I’m sure this is a fun spot, bar like atmosphere. They have karaoke, live music on certain days. Our bill was $62 for an appetizer,1/2 lb brisket,1/2 lb ribs, potato salad and macaroni. I wish the food was better and hoping this would be a weekly place to go to.

The brisket was good, first time the fat on the brisket was cooked correctly. Typically the fat on the brisket is slimy and gooey, this however, was good with a crisp crust. All 3 of us ordered a sandwich of some kind. We were disappointed when the sandwiches were placed in front of us. The hamburger buns were the small size, not the large buns nor were they the sliders but the buns in the middle. For the price one pays for the sandwiches the large hamburger buns should be a given. Maybe they ran out of the large buns? There was plenty of meat on the sandwiches minus the typical hamburger that was ordered by one person in our party…that size was on par with a McDonalds happy meal burger.
Defintely order their french fries, those were awesome. Seasoned and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside…those were good. And, no, the french fries are ordered extra, they do not come as part of the meal.
Customer service needs to be seriously addressed. Not sure where our waitstaff disappeared to but after waiting for 15 minutes in vain we asked one of the other waitstaff for our check…5 minutes later, another waitstaff comes over and checks us out eletronically. If we had cash on us, we would have done an estimate, placed what we thought the end total was and walked out. I doubt any of the waitstaff would have noticed.
