At his suggestion I had the homemade biscuits with sausage gravy and it was a treat. Biscuits were flaky, the gravy smooth with a hint of pepper and the sausage was placed on top. Wasn’t sure what to make of that but I ended up loving it.
Coffee (dark roast) was perfectly prepared, not a hint of “burnt”.
The atmosphere is Nashville-centric (photos of luminaries and art grace the walls.) and the seating (there’s even a little kids toy area and a mini library) is so much more extensive than you can see from outside.
I also took home some amazing cinnamon rolls and donuts!
I have two small quibbles, I’d prefer real half & half for my coffee and I’m sure it’s not possible, but table service would be lovely!
I can’t wait to visit again and try one of their omelets!
The food is absolutely glowing. It is delicious and fresh made from scratch. I ordered the waffle sandwich and it is perfect. The waffles are thick, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Just perfect. The bacon is crisp with good cuts of ham and turkey and good cheddar cheese. Paired with maple syrup and honey mustard that you can slather on or dip. Worth doing the dunk and doing both syrup and mustard. They also have jams and preserves and let me tell you the orange marmalade was just as spot on perfect too.
The Hashbrown casserole is award winning, and it was the perfect side dish for this breakfast. Worth the $1 upgrade. The flavor was outstanding, and while it was more mashed potato consistency it was very very good mashed potato. Like going to go really fast at the church social good. The kind of good where you just want more.
Coffee is fresh and the local roaster they are using is delivering some seriously tasty coffee. The Pecan and the Crew Choice were both so dang good. Kudos on having memorable not boring coffee and choices of not boring coffee.
The folks working there are incredibly nice. The gentleman who was working the counter was really nice. Like authentically nice. Like hey friend it’s good to see you. The environment of it being a house may play into that because it is just beautifully relaxed. Either way it feels like home and not a restaurant.
So here is the TLDR for everyone. Go eat here. Go get a coffee. Go experience this place because your soul needs it. I will be back for more when I venture back to middle Tennessee.
Nice patio seats with some sunshine today. They even put blankets out to keep you warm!
Nice, off the beaten path location and highly recommend.
Unfortunately, the food and coffee left us wanting. I got the omelette with sausage and veggies. The flavor of the sausage saved my omelette and I thought it was delicious. My wife got the veggie omelette, and enjoyed it but noticed lack of flavor. They have hot sauce to add, however they don’t have ketchup if you feel like you need extra flavor.
We both enjoyed the hash brown casserole. However, it would have been enjoyed more if it was hotter.
As for the biscuits….. they definitely need a new recipe. Somehow the biscuit were some how doughy and hard. The taste was not it.
As for the coffee, we both throughly enjoyed the nutty Irishman, but the beehive basically tastes like burnt coffee.
I’m not saying all this to turn away from this place, it is definitely a place you should visit. And I hope the owners can reevaluated their flavors and recipes for we know this place has amazing potential!
Highly recommend the owners to sit down and taste test everything or have outside recommendations. I hope it can grow from good to great!
The scramble plate was good but was a little too salty. The omelet was not good. It was made with canned mushrooms and lunch meat for the ham. The juice from the mushrooms was running all over the plate making the bottom of the biscuit all soggy, which you can see it in the picture I attached. It was so salty my wife could only eat the egg part of it, which was a bit over cooked.
If I lived here, I would definitely give it another try because I always like to give people the benefit of the doubt and try them at least twice but since we are out of towners, not able to do so.
On a positive note,
The biscuits were delicious and the gravy from my scramble plate would have made amazing biscuits and gravy.
The service was wonderful and the staff were very nice.
After tax and tip we spent about $35 with no beverages. The price was no big deal for us because we understand the high cost of everything right now, just thought I would let people know. The portion sizes were huge, so the food cost was commensurate with what you received I didn’t feel cheated at all with the cost.
I ordered the omelet and my companion got the smoked ham and egg sandwich. We took a seat and didn’t have to wait long before the buzzer went off, maybe 10-12 minutes.
The omelet was huge! Seriously, it seemed like a football that was cut down the middle. Fluffy eggs, loads of toppings, and plenty of melted cheese. Really really good. The sandwich was great too, with the pineapple making itself known amongst the rest of the ingredients.
The service was friendly, attentive, and on point. The decor was warm, cozy, and homey. The food was plentiful and very tasty. A+
