I drove up from Tennessee to work in Lexington, at the end of the day, I was craving a burger. I typed in “best burger spots in Lexington,” and Side Bar had great reviews. I decided to eat here, and I was glad I did. It has that cool Dive feel and history, great service, and the food…was everything I was hoping it would be. The build-a-burger I had was magical. 5/5 highly recommend, I think this is my first google review ever. After I ate here I knew I had to leave a good review, because it was THAT good and deserved it. Will definitely be eating here again in the future. Kudos yall!

Da bomb! Ok, maybe that marks my age, but this place ROCKS!!! We came here on a recommendation and, WOW, did not disappoint! First off, don’t let the front fool ya. What looks like a humble storefront leads into a cozy, awesome space. The bar literally overlooks the grill where they were simultaneously making Pabst blue ribbon chili and a grilled cheese (the latter in a cast iron skillet, as is only proper). We got beer and an old fashioned (it is KY, after all). The chef and bartender were super friendly and we ordered some food and ogled the chili. Brie and sidebar burgers ordered, drinks in hand, nice clientele and staff, and we are some SERIOUSLY happy bunnies! Key find!!!
Edited to include the chili that we bought to take home. O. M. G. Yes. Enough said.

It was a late night working out of town and I wanted some quick good food and drinks.
I definitely got them here! Great Old Fashioneds and the Beef and Brie with Shoestring fries was awesome.
I felt like home as soon as I walked in. I’ll be back for sure next time I’m in town!

One of the best burgers I have had in Lex. Definitely the best fries I have had. Great service.
Just could go without all the political propaganda at every inch of this establishment.

For a place that consistently gets ranked best burgers in Lexington, my experience has been disappointing. Just won’t go back. they cook it wrong every time. I ordered a medium rare because they have good sirloin, even mentioned it twice in conversation while placing the order, medium rare. it was overcooked and dry. and the fries, how is it possible to overcook the fries yet have them be soggy. Nope.

Great, down to earth hole in the wall burger restaurant.
It’s not too big, not too small.. people coming in and out of the place, the atmosphere was very much alive. The food was superb for the price 25 total with tip for me. I had a Coke, Burger w/Bacon and fries, also had Fried Pickles as an app. Everything was delicious. Great service and staff were very collaborative with their environment.
The only thing I would change was making the patty itself a bit wider. I noticed the bun to patty on my burger was smaller, so it felt like I was eating around the burger.
Fries were seasoned well, and the ranch was finger licking good!

In town for concert and stopped in based off reviews. Very chill dive bar with a lot of cool memorabilia on walls.
Server was super friendly and was on point during very busy time.
I got double cheeseburger with bacon. Good burger that was cooked to perfect medium. Shoestring fries were cooked perfectly, awesome…Would definitely stop back in when in town..

Sidebar salad w/ grilled chicken….. the spring greens tasted as if they were not washed which was evident as a bug crawled out AFTER a few bites! And don’t drown in the thimble size cup of dressing!!
Burger & fries….. “burger was okay” the fries were burnt, not overdone burnt! The au jus was definitely from powder! $40 and we won’t go back which is ashamed cause they used to be so good!!!

The Old Guys Pub Crawl loves this place for a downtown burger and beer. Everything about this place makes us oldsters feel like we’re 70 again. If there were less bars in Lexington, then this one would come around in rotation sooner.
