If you want fire in your mouth, this is the place to be! Sichuan Tasty lives up to its name—we ordered the chili chicken, cumin lamb, mapo tofu, lo mein, and chicken fried rice, and every single dish was mouthwatering and spiced to perfection. The flavors were bold, authentic, and unforgettable. The food arrived quickly, and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Portion sizes were generous—definitely more than we expected—and the prices were better than most other places in town. A must-visit if you love spicy, flavorful food!

Favorite Sichuan place in SF. Stumbled across it one day and have gone back every time since!
Our favorite dishes are the sichuan crispy chili chicken/fish/tofu, scallion pancake, and chili green bean- but all other things we’ve tried have been well made. This place truly does sichuan spice properly and is 100% worth a stop by!

Overall: Food is standard fare.

The extended review…

Food: 3/5 – We got a bunch of things and went family style. Noodles, dumplings, and veggies to complete the meal. Everything was standard fare.

Service: 4/5 – Friendly service.

Ambiance: 3/5 – A little bit hole in the wallish but a slight step up.

Portion to Price: 3/5 – Portion size was comparable to other places.

One of the best Szchuan taste restaurants in SF. It’s spacious and well decorated. Staffs are also responsive and friendly but it may be a little short of hands during peak business hours. Highly recommend Chongqing Spicy Chicken

My go-to for takeout or delivery. I’ve ordered many times and the food is always first rate. Good and spicy, especially the spicy tofu or chicken (both a bit numbing). My family loves the orange chicken (I prefer spicy). Other standouts: hot and sour soup, chili green beans, garlic pea shoots, beef chow fun. Highly recommend!

Food was tasty! Ordered the wood ear mushroom, eggplant, cumin lamb, and pork and pickle noodle soup. Stars were the lamb and eggplant.

Service was quick and friendly.

Parking is a little difficult on a Saturday evening but was able to find street parking on Geary.

The sweet and sour soup had too much vinegar, and too much white pepper. The smell was just weird.

The kung pao chicken was not good. It was sweet and sour and spicy, almost as if they were making sweet and sour chicken… as if they made a mistake but corrected it by making it spicy and serving it.

The fried chicken with hot peppers was decent at best. The breading was all wrong. It was too much of it and the texture was too hard.

The spicy wontons were nothing special. The meat tasted apparently frozen for a while. The chili oil was a partial saving grace — it had hints of “mala” spicyness that stays in your tongue, which I appreciated.

The XLB were not good. There was barely and soup inside the dumplings. The skin was way too thick. The soup meat tasted apparently frozen for a while. The vinegar dipping sauce had no infusion of anything.

Absolutely INCREDIBLE Sichuan food. Everything we had was fantastic and incredibly flavorful. The Chong Qing Chili Style Chicken was numbingly spicy and incredibly delicious — I think about this dish in particular very often. But really everything we had (鱼香茄子,酸菜鱼,干煸四季豆,干炒牛河) was fantastic and I cannot wait to come back. Also, in regards to some of the comments about the service being lacking, I don’t know what everyone’s problem is. The prices here are fair, the food came out quick, and the server was attentive to keep our water cups and tea pot full. What more can you really ask for from an authentic joint like this? If you want Sichuan style food that tastes incredible then come try this spot out!

Currently, the best Sichuan encountered in San Francisco — perfectly spicy, numbing just enough. An elegant balance in mala resulting in a near bottomless appetite that can last hours.

Tan Tan Noodles, gets the mala to sesame proportion just right. Spicy Beef Tendon, an excellent cold appetizer for those adventurous in texture. Cumin Lamb, comforting, savory and flavorful. Sichuan Roasted Whole Fish, crispy fried then served in bubbling mala broth, buried under chilis and lotus root. Chonqing Chili Chicken, best when eaten in the evenings, and VERY YUMMY for that matter.

The private dining room in the back — a treat. Portrait view of green garden stone landscape, impressive.
