‘Siam’ is an independent family run business which opened in April 2006. This vast building overlooking the Shropshire Union Canal has been tastefully transformed and offers fine dining split between three floors. On the ground floor is Chester’s first Japanese Teppan-yaki restaurant while upstairs is our authentic Thai restaurant and bar.

Visited here for the Thai restaurant on a Wednesday night in January and the place was busy but not full. The menu has a good choice of options. The food itself is superb, great quality, good sized portions and top notch ingredients. Had the chicken satay and stuffed chicken wings for starters (who knew you could stuff a chicken wing), both very good. We both had the pineapple red thai curry for main, 1 with chicken and the other with belly pork. This is a fantastic dish and would highly recommend. They even did a milder version for my wife. Unfortunately we were too full for a dessert. The staff were all polite and friendly. We will definitely go again when in the area.

We booked a table at one of our favourite places to eat in the world, Siam Thai & Teppan Yaki, it really is a great place to dine for lunch or dinner. On this visit we chose to go for lunch and arrived early, so early that we were the first people dining, though not long after a couple of the cooking stations started to fill up.
As you would expect the service was excellent both from the waiting team and the chefs. We quickly placed our orders and drinks arrived soon after. Around ten minutes later our starters were served and were very much enjoyed, spring rolls and chicken satay.
Whilst we enjoyed our starters our chef began preparing the vegetables and then provided some entertainment, showing his skills and a few impressive flames from the grill. The chef then served our food as each part was ready. The vegetables and Siam potatoes were amazing as always, as was the egg fried rice, before our garlic fillet steak arrived which was the perfect finale to the meal.
I have been fortunate to visit Siam a number of times, which is a very positive sign, as I rarely return to the same place, and I cannot wait to visit again.

This was not just a restura this was an experience! Absolutely fantastic from start to finish, the staff were all amazing and very interactive. It was a special treat for my sons birthday amd they pulled out all the srips to make it extra special for him. He still talks about ot a week later, how much of an amazing time he had and how incredible the food was! Tha k toy so much we will definitely be back soon!

Today I went to the Siam Thai and Tepan-yaki, for the Teppan-yaki and me and my wife were absolutely blown away at how good it was, the service was outstanding, kind, polite and welcoming, the food starter of chicken miso soup, it tastes fantastic! Next fried gyoza, cooked to perfection, thenshowmanship of the chef started, making fire burst from the cooking plate! (See picture) Then he was throwing slices of potato for me and my wife to catch in our eagerly awaiting mouths! Delicious! For the main course I had a mixed course of king prawns with garlic butter, salmon, steak (cooked rare perfect!) and teriyaki chicken all prepared right Infront of me! The chef has so much skill and he was very humourous too! Made me and my wife laugh a lot! If your thinking of going, stop thinking and just go! I highly recommend!

Very impressed. Had a fabulous meal at the Siam Thai Restaurant yesterday. We went around 3.30pm with friends (four of us) very quiet but a few couples came in later. We chose from the early evening menu which was amazing value £18 for 2 courses …. generous portions absolutely delicious. It was so nice to be greeted and waited on by friendly smily waiters and waitresses.

Can’t fault it. I’ve been to teppenyaki restaurants before and always had a great time, but this was really special. The chef was superb and all the staff made us feel very welcome. The food was cooked perfectly and the entertainment was completely on point. I wish we lived in Chester and could visit more often

I understand that the conceptof a Teppanyaki is an entertaining performance for dinner. In fact, I’ve been to other Teppanyaki restaurants in other countries, and I’ve never had such a poor experience as this one. The jokes from the chef and staff felt quite rude and in poor taste. I wanted a quiet dinner with my family after my graduation, but instead I got thrown food at me and made fun of in front of the whole restaurant. The staff and management of this restaurant should be more mindful of their performances and stay respectful towards their clients. I had a conversation with several people as I left the restaurant, and they shared the same opinion.

Another great find if you like Thai Food. Very deceiving front of building as it stretches quite far back on 3 levels of restaurants looking over the canal. Although an old building they have maintained it really well and everywhere was very clean. Love all the interesting artefacts and decor with excellent service from staff in traditional outfits. Nice relaxing music in the background. Amazing price for 2 course lunch £13.95 especially for Chester . 10/10 handbag restaurant review for our delicious food today.
