Amazing high end Chinese food best Ribs in the city . Had green beans in black bean sauce and lemon chicken a pear tart and lichens for dessert . All very tasty and delicious $158 plus 20% tip my only gripe I’d they don’t make the jumbo shrimp in bean curd paste anymore. Used to be on dim sum menu and it’s gone . No one had a better shrimp in city .

Shun Lee West is truly one of the most elegant Chinese dining experiences in NYC. The atmosphere feels classic and refined, perfect for both special occasions and sophisticated dinners. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of authentic flavor — the Peking duck was outstanding, with perfectly crisp skin and tender meat.

A special thank you to Manager Tony, who made our evening exceptional. He was attentive, welcoming, and ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish. His professionalism and warm hospitality really elevated the entire experience.

If you’re looking for traditional Chinese cuisine with impeccable service on the Upper West Side, Shun Lee West never disappoints. We’ll definitely be back!

This restaurant, established in 1965, was recommended by a friend, so we decided to visit together. My friend shared fond childhood memories of dining here with their parents.

It’s a traditional dim sum restaurant, and each dish feels quite classic. On the positive side, it’s authentic; on the downside, it might feel a bit too old-fashioned.

Still, it’s nice to see a place preserving such a legacy.

Went here for dinner recently. It’s an upscale Chinese food restaurant on the Upper West Side. It is very spacious and nicely decorated. There are many servers and they are all very attentive. The clientele is a lot of older people and families. We started off with soup dumplings and fried shrimp balls which were both delicious. We also got Chinese broccoli, crispy beef, General Tso’s chicken, walnut shrimp, fried rice and they brought another vegetable dish out to us. Everything was really good. Portions were a good size. Good for sharing. Definitely the type of place to go to on a special occasion with a group. Check it out.

This place is absolutely incredible, my favorite Chinese in Manhattan. I come here with my best friend who is Chinese and we both enjoy it so much. The owner is so kind and the hospitality is incredible. I am obsessed with the XO shrimp and surprisingly they have incredible wine list too. Some special old amazing red wines

It’s been a long time since I last review anything. Thankfully, I have returned and what better way to start off before I headed to Shen Yun yesterday is this upscale Chinese Restaurant. First off, this place has very impressive decor. The atmosphere felt very positive and the servers were very attentive to all the tables. It was my very first time eating there and their recommendations were spot on and true to their word. Their Mai Tai was pretty good and their Pork Fried Rice with General Tso’s Chicken made my stomach performed the “happy dance” the whole time. Yes, it was really that tasty.

Additionally, I love how they were quick to notice that my water supply was low and immediately refilled it without me saying anything. Bonus points for that. Anyway, they checked on me often to make sure I was okay and it really made me feel valued and welcomed. In the end, although my bill was a little more than expected, I was not surprised because the quality of the whole restaurant was worth every penny. For those who appreciates Chinese culture like I do, you will not be disappointed because I will highly recommend this place to you.

Shun Lee West on the Upper West Side effortlessly evokes the charm of 1970s-80s fine Chinese dining. As you step inside, the refined ambiance, with its classic Chinese motifs, sets a serene and welcoming tone.

The menu offers a delightful journey through American Chinese culinary traditions. Dishes like Chicken with Three Nuts, Chicken with Vegetables (Moo Goo Gai Pan), Hot and Sour Soup, and Wonton Soup are prepared with meticulous attention to detail, reminiscent of the first Chinese food my mother took me out to enjoy. The quality of ingredients and the chefs’ skill shine through, making each meal memorable. These are not new fusion dishes but traditional American Chinese dishes.

The old-fashioned service at Shun Lee West is impeccable. The attentive and courteous waitstaff provide a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. The restaurant maintains a peaceful atmosphere, allowing for relaxed conversation and a leisurely meal.

Overall, Shun Lee West is a charming throwback to the golden age of fine Chinese dining in America. Its combination of classic dishes, impeccable service, and quiet elegance make it a true gem on the Upper West Side.

Definitely back to where they started from multiple mice seen during dinner looked in the corners and cracks and booths receding is in the long floor is walking in caked with dirt and debris. Did my googling 2017 initiate with the Department of health and clearly they’re having a problem again multiple mice walking around with me. There’s so many more we can’t see.
Extraordinarily large prices, old and dusty atmosphere given the nature of great places on the upper west side avoid avoid
