One of the many highlights of last weekend’s Richmond trip was dinner at Shula’s American Kitchen inside Hilton Richmond Hotel & Spa | Short Pump. All the flavor of a classic steakhouse with a modern feel. We started with exceptionally constructed cocktails and shared two stunning appetizers, roasted brussel sprouts and short rib aranchini. The brussels sprouts were served with goat cheese, bacon lardens and peach vinaigrette. The vinaigrette added a sweetness that balanced out the richness of the other ingredients. The Arancini was so flavorful and perfectly balanced and an added delight that each portion was topped a short rib. Entrée, chicken Milanese, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, set a top, the most perfectly cooked Parmesan risotto. The lightly dressed arugula salad was the perfect compliment to the richness of the meal. In addition to an amazing meal, the service was wonderfully attentive! Definitely stopping there again!

We made reservations for a Friday at 6:30. There was no one in the restaurant. It doesn’t have an inviting atmosphere. The lights were way too bright for an evening dinner. No place settings on the tables. Between the bad atmosphere and not getting a waiter, we opted to leave without ordering anything. It seems like the type of restaurant that would be on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares.

Good food at reasonable prices, unless you’re getting the steak, which are twice the price of most entrees. Then again, this is a steak house, so that’s to be expected.

I got the French onion soup, prime rib sandwich, and salad with salmon as an add on. They were all cooked well and tastes good.

Service was fast, but I was the only one in the restaurant. Ambiance is chill and quiet since I was the only one in the dining room. The bar area is inside the hotel, which has nice energy from the coming and going of guests.

I don’t see a special reason to visit though unless you live in the hotel or have an event. There are better restaurants with better food for less within a short driving distance.

By far some of the best food I have ever eaten! I got the 14 oz. ny strip with truffle parmesan butter and a side of mashed potatoes. My steak was perfectly cooked to medium perfection! It was so delicious! We also got the shrimp appetizer & cornbread appetizer which were both amazingly delicious. Our server was so friendly and attentive. He constantly came to check on us. He was great. We’ll definitely visit again if we’re ever in town. It’s a must try restaurant.

A very busy and rushed day for me, so I had a late lunch (3PM) at Shula’s as I enjoy a good steak and it was conveniently in the Hilton. I ordered steak frites, on the menu as dry aged NY strip. I know my steaks and usually order lean steaks (e.g. filet mignon) rare or blue but as NY strip is well marbled, I ordered this rare to medium rare and asked that it be red inside. The cut was not NY strip but flank or bavette with no marbling at all and it was cooked well done with no pink or juice. Normally I would have returned this (something I almost never do) but I was very hungry and rushed and ate about half. It was as bad as it looked. I commented on this to the server, who was excellent, and she brought it up with the chef who did not come out to meet me but agreed and gave a 25% discount; something I had not requested. The frites (fries) were quite crispy as expected and tasty but sadly the restaurant did not have malt vinegar for these.
There are very good steak houses in Richmond including in the West end, From this one experience, I conclude that Shula’s is not not of these.

Went on Thanksgiving. Probably a poor choice. Our waiter came to our table and said “are you ready to order” We had literally just sat down. I said can you take drink.orders first. He did and my wife’s drink was not as requested. We finally got our drinks. When placing our dinner order, the waiter had no knowledge of the menu. Then, one minute after our salads were delivered they brought my entree. In fairness the food was good but I felt like we were eating at opening night of a new restuarant and the staff had not been trained. Sadly, we will not be going back.

This was truly the best meal my sister and I have ever had. Every item that was brought out, we were blown away with. Our waiter was so nice and helpful. My lobster bisque had nice giant pieces of lobster in it, and the bread they made me to go with it, was beyond delicious. We also got the shrimp pasta, and the filet salad with added shrimp. And the key lime pie to finish.

Awesome restaurant customer service was amazing. I was a bit skeptical about dinning here because of the open concept when walking in but they had another side that was more private which was perfect for my date. The crab cakes were 10/10 and my steak was cooked to perfection. My husband had the ribs they was good also falling off the bone and very juicy even the Coleslaw was good and fresh. I wasn’t a fan of the broccoli but it was no problem for them to swap it out for me. Even my drink was perfect and came quick and tasted awesome. I had such a good experience here and will definitely be back.

I barely leave reviews, but this was the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in my life. The Caesar salad lettuce was brown and wilted, and the salad was soggy The beef prime rib was leather. The soda was flat. They were out of a seasonal soup they were advertising. Turkey was dry as a bone. Had to ask for utensils. When we put down the check, they came and grabbed it immediately. do not go here

I went here for a birthday celebration. We were a table of 10. The menu is limited in terms of seafood. I wanted lobster so I ordered crab cakes mashed potatoes and spinach. They ran out of spinach so I had kale. The waiter was accommodating and made me a nice drink. But the food taste was uhhh. I had to add salt and pepper to my food. There is no milk or garlic in the mashed potatoes . It was potatoes water and olive oil. Now would I come back no. The ambiance is nice and bueatiful. The staff is friendly but I really believe good food makes the difference.
