This spot may not scream “top tier” from the outside, but don’t let that fool you — it’s a hidden gem and absolutely worth the visit.
One of my favorite parts of the experience (and there were several) was the live one-man band. I honestly wasn’t expecting that at all. He played soulful, funky jazz while singing and sharing little stories before each song. It made the whole place feel warm and intimate — like dinner and a show all in one.
Now let’s talk food.
My hunny ordered “Da Bomb,” which is exactly what it sounds like. Two biscuits stuffed with eggs, sausage, peppers, onions, and bacon — and I mean stuffed. It could easily stand alone as a full meal, but it still comes with breakfast potatoes. The portions are no joke.
I went with the signature chicken and waffles, and I’m so glad I did. The lemon waffle was soft and fluffy in the middle with crisp edges, that lemon flavor came through…..and the syrup? Hennessy syrup. Yes — Henny syrup. It wasn’t overpowering at all, just a smooth, flavorful touch that pulled everything together. The chicken was golden, crispy, and seasoned just right.
The staff was attentive without hovering, and the overall service made the experience even better.
If you’re in the area, go. Come hungry. You won’t regret it. 10/10, I’d absolutely make the trip again.

Walking into Shuga Hi felt like stepping into my grandma’s kitchen. instantly warm, welcoming, and comforting. The staff was incredibly hospitable, and the smell of food cooking as soon as I walked in let me know I’d found a special spot. I ordered two breakfast burritos and they were absolutely perfect . flavorful, fresh, and clearly made with care. Everything about this place felt genuine and homey. I can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in town. Highly recommend stopping in if you get the chance.

I love Shugga Hi. I’ve recommended it to several people. The food is great, and the portions are plentiful. The owner and staff are attentive and friendly. They’re great about topping off coffee and working together to make sure the tables are covered, if needed. It’s a smaller cafe with beautiful artwork. Enjoy the live jazz during brunch!

Wonderful Experience! Ms. Kathy and her very attentive staff made my visit unforgettable! The glorious smells hit my nostrils as soon as I hit the door! I am not a fried chicken fan because rarely do today’s restaurants cook it the southern way and with love. But that all changed when I arrived at Shugga Hi Bakery and Cafe! The Chef at Shugga Hi fried this chicken with love and pride! It was crispy on the outside and juicy and tender on the inside and without that greasy after taste!! That old Sunday- go- to -meeting kind of church chicken.(iykyk)!The various sides were perfectly seasoned and prepared to perfection! There was kale and cucumber salad! (The southern kind)

If you ordered brunch, eggs were prepared to your specification. Parking can be tight but I promise it is worth a visit. For myself and my Sisterfriends , it was an annual birthday brunch and I am just thrilled we stumbled upon this place! We all purchased dinner plates to go, the food was so delicious! Yes, for an additional fee you can eat brunch there and carry out a worthwhile dinner for later! We also discovered Ms.Kathie and staff pours back into the community by hosting a harvest meal with all the sides for all who need or desires it! My goodness, I am not a Nashville native but I have eaten all over the city. Shugga Hi Cafe has earned the repeat business of myself and my friends. Yall Come! Do yourself a favor and try it out yourself. You will not be disappointed.

I absolutely LOVE IT HERE!!! My friends and I attended the buffet for brunch and it was just so damn good! There was live music, the service was great and so were the mimosas! I will definitely be back for another brunch!

Got the chicken and waffles and it was excellent. You can choose to have a cake base waffle. Hot Wings were also amazing. We didn’t get too far into the wings and the staff checked in to make sure everything was tasting alright! Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs was the only issue we ran into. 10/10.

I’m so glad I didn’t. I felt at home as soon as I walked in where Mrs. Cathy was greeting everyone at the door as if she knew just what you needed. We ordered the chicken and waffles and turkey sausage omelette. I was blown away by the flavor on the chicken, the sweet waffles, and the Hennessy honey syrup . The omelet was well seasoned and cooked nicely. Our waitress, Sedonna, was sweet, kind, and helpful. Next time I’ll have to try the buffet. The atmosphere was warm (literally) and the live music a sweet addition. I’ll definitely be back! 10/10 recommend!!

Such a beautiful little cafe! I was on my way out of town on a Sunday morning and decided to stop for breakfast. Everyone was so incredibly nice, and the food was amazing (I believe they have a buffet every Sunday). The experience made my whole day! Definitely dropping by the next time I’m in town.
