The food hit the spot—the oysters were fresh and the tacos were tasty. Just a heads-up: it can get pretty loud inside. Between the music, the TVs, and the general crowd, it’s a busy environment, so don’t expect a quiet conversation.
The only confusing part for us was the menu pricing. A lot of the raw bar and steamed items are listed as “Market Price.” We didn’t realize until later that there is a chalkboard on the wall breaking down those daily costs. It would have been helpful if that was clearer for first-time visitors, but once we found it, it was fine.
Good experience overall and we’d come back!
I ended up ordering the Shrimp & Grits and the Chicken Sandwich. The shrimp and grits were not what I expected—the grits were fried into firm balls with a creamy sauce poured over them. The sauce tasted like mayonnaise with a touch of chipotle, and while the server said it was a customer favorite, it just wasn’t for me.
The chicken sandwich didn’t impress me either. The bun was much larger than the piece of grilled chicken inside, and the chicken itself had no seasoning. It was served with a side of butter, hush puppies, and coleslaw. I asked for tartar sauce to add a little flavor, but even that couldn’t save it. The coleslaw was watery and bland, tasting mostly like plain mayonnaise.
Would I recommend this place? Maybe—for seafood lovers who want oysters or clams, since that seems to be their specialty. But I’d skip the shrimp & grits and chicken sandwich next time.
I had a great experience at this restaurant! The atmosphere was really nice and welcoming. I sat at the bar, and the barmaid/waitress was super friendly and attentive throughout my visit.
I started with the oysters, which were amazing. They had a selection of about four or five different kinds, and I loved that you could mix and match. Each one I had was fresh and delicious. I also tried the crab leg cluster, which came with corn on the cob, very flavorful and cooked just right.
Since I was still a little hungry, I added the fish and chips to my order. The fish was perfectly fried with great flavor, and the fries were seasoned nicely, crisp, and tasty. They also had a nice small selection of beers on tap!
Even though it looked like only two people were working in the kitchen, they were doing an impressive job keeping up with orders as the place started to fill up. It looked like they even had food and drink specials seven days a week. The overall price was typical for this type of establishment.
Everything I had was really good, and the service was top-notch. I’ll definitely be back!
The oysters are the main reason I come back. They’re super fresh. I’ve tried most of them:
• Summer Love and Island Creek were clean and refreshing, but honestly a bit overpriced
• Salty Mainer had a dirty ocean flavor. Kind of stinky, but still fresh. Not for everyone, but I didn’t mind it
• Eastpoint and House oysters are my favorites. They’re affordable, especially on Mondays or during happy hour. Eastpoint has a creamy, fresh flavor that I’ll definitely order again
The service needs improvement. No one greets you when you walk in, and the staff seems really busy. We waited over 30 minutes before realizing our food had gone to the wrong table. No one checked on us, and we had to flag someone down. The staff was kind, but everything felt disorganized and understaffed.
The food was hit or miss.
• Mussels came out lukewarm, and most of the shells were still closed. It was frustrating to eat
• The corn on the side of the mussels tasted super watery. This was my least favorite part of the meal
• Fish and chips were perfectly cooked, but the seasoning on the fried coating was too salty
If you’re coming for the oysters and the laid-back vibe, it’s worth a visit. Just be prepared to wait, and skip the sides.
Shrimp! The food wasn’t bad it just seemed like maybe they were understaffed. Staff were friendly when we could get their attention and the atmosphere was nice and welcoming. We did receive an appetizer gift card for the next visit for the inconvenience.
