I’d like to start by saying this isn’t my first unpleasant experience here. We checked in and were told 30 minutes even though we had a reservation. The service was extremely slow. It took 20 minutes between each dish to come out. Our waitress couldn’t get away from us fast enough. Anytime we wanted something she would walk away as she was taking our order. We asked her to check on a dish and instead of telling us that it’s being worked on, she never came back to say a thing. My personal favorite was when we said we were missing our spicy tuna crispy rice and she looks at me with a blank face and says okay and? I was floored. This happened both times I’ve been here and am happy to say I won’t be back. I’ve been to countless busy sushi places, and none operate with such chaos.

Restaurant Shu is my go-to spot, and I can’t recommend their truffle pasta enough! I come here weekly just to enjoy this incredible dish. The pasta is perfectly cooked, and the truffle flavor is rich and savory without being overpowering. The presentation is always beautiful, and the portion size is just right. The staff is friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. If you’re a truffle lover, this is a must-try dish!

Fantastic experience. I was able to get a seat on a Saturday night on a whim. Best decision ever. Everything was delightful, but the Japanese eggplant and Chilean Seabass roll were stellar. The eggplant was perfectly cooked with slightly crisp outer skin that melts in your mouth. The Seabass is how I ended the meal and it was absolutely worth every buttery morsel. The scallops are of course fresh not previously frozen, and they were prepared perfectly. The Scottish salmon sashimi sprinkled with truffle was delectable. To top it all off the service was superb. It helped that I happen to sit next to a few regulars who recommended some of the dishes. Everyone was friendly and very attentive, even though the restaurant was packed. A new favorite.

had dinner for two before a show at Vibrato next door, sushi menu was extensive, comparably priced compared to others nearby (Katsuya, Kiwami, etc). sushi was fresh, tasty, and sake list was plentiful (they even had my favorite kikusui).
Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. Highly recommend for a date night away from the usual spots on Ventura or the other side of the hill!

Need I say more? WOW. Came here on the recommendation of a client and holy moly it’s soooo delicious. We made 4 choices (blackened miso cod, toro hand roll, yellow tail hand roll, and picachu roll). I can’t imagine anything not being delicious on their menu. Perfect amount of food for 2 people. We also got 1 side of rice to share and 2 hot green teas. It’s very fresh and you can taste the quality of the ingredients and how much the chefs design their menu. Thank you for a meal we won’t forget! Ambiance is relaxed and unpretentious, staff is incredibly polite and really care about making your meal perfection.

Man this place has such great sushi. They respect the fish, and they go through great lengths to make sure the experience is perfect. The servers care about the customers as well, taking time to advise them and find out what they like. Clara really helped me out I hope you have the pleasure of working with her. Def come back again

My friend invited me here for my birthday. It’s located in a cute shopping center that’s the only special thing about. There is nothing special about the restaurant ambiance or the food.
The food quality maybe pretty good but food taste over all is not all that. It actually lack flavor in my opinion. The best thing we tried was the sea-bass roll which was pretty good. The crispy spicy tuna was good but not exceptional. The albacore sashimi was really good quality wise. The food over all lacks flavor.
The desert was a disappointment we got a coupe items which was ice cream and fried bananas and ice cream and some type apple kinda turnovers. A restaurant that does not offer great tasting deserves can never be a 5 star restaurant.
presentation overall was average and the service was average too. The best thing about the experience was the saki.
The reason I give this place a 2 star is as follows. When a restaurant is a four dollar sign that means that it is a fine dining place. So I am grading it based on a fine dining experience. If it was a 3 dollar sign then it would be like 3.5 star and if it was 2 dollar sign then it would be a 4.5 star.
In my opinion based on a fine dining sushi place this is the rating.
4 for Sashimi
2 for rolls
0 for desert
2 for ambiance
2 for service
