It all began in 1993, when two local boys in Gulf Shores, Alabama decided to open up a casual family-focused seafood restaurant on the Gulf Coast. The idea was to create a restaurant where people would feel welcome to be themselves, families could afford to dine out together and strangers would leave as friends. Coastal vacationers demanded that Shrimp Basket expand to provide this incredible seafood value to those unable to be at the beach year round. Today, we’re happy to offer locations across the Southeast for family and friends to feel a part of the beach, dine and enjoy delicious seafood! At the Shrimp Basket, our goal is to make sure that you – our friends – leave happy and satisfied after every visit.

Pretty disappointing place. I liken it to a Captain D’s with booze and wait staff.
Saturday night around 7pm, very low volume in the dining area, which should have been a signal to me.
Took a few minutes to be acknowledged and seated. I immediately noticed several sliced lemons and straw paper on the floor by the drink station. An empty 2 liter of lemonade on the drink station. Paper towels and some food bits on the floor in the dining area, and a bussing bin just hanging out on one of the high top tables. Considering the hostess was wiping down tables (not well, our table was sticky) I’m not sure why she wasn’t aware of the other things that needed tidying.
Both the hostess and server had on a greasy, dirty shirt. She was also wearing shorts that were appropriate length for Hooter’s but I wouldn’t expect them to be that short here. She was also wearing her small, crossbody purse… which was just a bizarre thing to do while waiting tables, but ok, whatever?
They didn’t have the beer or liquor we asked for in stock. She forgot the to go drinks for the table near us. She also forgot our stuffed crab and after saying it was going to be up in 60 seconds it was really like 5 minutes.
The food is subpar. The stuffed crab is very clearly a frozen item ordered from restaurant supply. I feel like the shrimp probably are, too they may be hand breaded but probably not in the actual restaurant.
The coleslaw had a strange taste that I can’t quite describe. The hush puppies are tiny and have a weird overtly sweet flavor.
The tartar sauce is runny, had way too much parsley, and frankly, pretty gross.
The flatware is disposable plastic. The serving trays are plastic.
All in all, I didn’t think it was worth the price at all. For the type of food it is and how casually it is served, I don’t think this kind of dining is one that warrants wait staff. This is counter style food at best.
Definitely better places to eat than this for a similar price point.

This is a very good restaurant! I ordered the seafood basket with some of everything in it. The fish was great—good texture and flavor, not greasy or slimy. The shrimp were cooked and seasoned very well. The oysters were some of the best I’ve had. The stuffed crab had a down home flavor. The showstopper might be the cheese grits. They were creamy and cheesy. And here’s a little extra detail. The fries were clean tasting. So often seafood restaurants just throw everything in the same grease. Not here. The fries told me the folks in the kitchen know what they’re doing. My waitress was Anna. She was great!

First off, we got the boiled shrimp for 2, over priced, very bland, horrible, we did not eat it all, did not get asked if we wanted anything else!, spent $72!!!! did not get refills on our drinks until we were leaving, then we spoke to people around here and they had bad things to also say about this place. After we left we had to go eat somewhere else because we did not eat our food here. The waitress should have seen that we didn’t eat our food obviously should have done something about it. They are not busy! Do not go here please! It was a waste of our money ! $72 I wish I would have spoken to more people about this place . If you drive by and no one is there! THAT IS A RED FLAG!! DO NOT HO HERE!looks good but all they did was pour seasoning on the shrimp, shrimp had no taste ! We didn’t eat! I just think style waitress should have offered us something else

I haven’t eaten here yet, but seeing owners go so far out of their way to support their community genuinely touched my soul. Places like this deserve recognition and every bit of support they can get.
This goes far beyond how the food might taste. When the people behind a restaurant care this deeply about their community, I already know the food tastes like gold — you cannot change my mind.
I’m absolutely coming here and fully plan on trying everything on the menu. Restaurants like this are rare, and they deserve to be celebrated.

First time at shrimp basket. Hannah provided us with excellent service! She was nice, attentive, and very polite. Our lunch was great, and came out in a timely manner. I have never eaten here before. I live in Indiana just outside Chicago, but I’ll tell you this- if I’m ever in the Pensacola area, I’ll be coming to this place to support this establishment because from what I just saw on tik tok, these are some of the finest, top notch, most caring human beings I’ve come across. It’s rare to see a chef/restaurateur care so much about their customers these days. if their foods as good as their hearts, then it’s second to none! Wanted to say that My Husband and I really enjoyed our meal at this restaurant tonight. Hailey Pope was our server and did an excellent job. I gave 5 stars because the serves and food. I would like to add though that my husband was disappointed in the lack of choices in sugar free drinks. All that was available is Diet coke or coke zero and he doesn’t like either.

We were served by Ms. Hannah Banana! She has such a beautiful personality and energy. She was super attentive and made our drinks to perfection. I’m visiting from out of state but plan to come visit anytime I come back and will most definitely be asking for Hannah and Hannah only!

Good place for some good fish. The service was good, the food was good for fast food, and the atmosphere was friendly. We had a party of six and paid $107 before tip. They do have an extensive menu so it was easy to find something to eat. I did not see any vegan or vegetarian options. Thank you, Shrimp Basket!
