The owner is a well known and appreciated local chef. Show Pony is in the unique and friendly Grandin Village, the restaurant carries this tradition forward. The menu is filled with terrific variations of favorite foods done in ways you likely have never experienced. A number of gluten free and vegan options are included. Selections include a trout rueben, oysters, a terrific Ramen dish with meat and other add ins. Those who know me are aware that I enjoy and know mushrooms well so I was happy to find a Maitake (hen of the woods) appetizer that was killer. Drinks are expertly prepared and a varied selection of old favorites along with some upscale options. Overall it’s an enjoyable culinary experience backed up by kitchen pros that know what they are doing while maintaining a comfortable fun atmosphere that is never pretentious. Definitely worth a visit.

I had a fabulous experience at Show Pony. I had a couple of their featured cocktails and shared the ‘chicken fried hen of the woods mushrooms’. That was delicious. This is the first place that had Chartreuse available! “Chartreuse, the liquor so good they named a color after it” – Quentin Tarantino

I really wanted to like this place. I was so excited about a new place coming to the neighborhood. I loved the concept but don’t think the execution of it was great. The music was so loud I couldn’t hear the person talk on the other side of the table from me. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, it tasted like blanched cauliflower and soy sauce. We paid $45 for 2 mixed drinks ($14 each) and a cauliflower appetizer. The whole menu was either vegan, gf, or vegetarian. While I love having those options, add a staple to the menu that isn’t vegan. I wish this was more of a hit than a miss.

We had French onion dip that was phenomenal; I’d eat it with a spoon.
I had the mussels for my dinner. They were amazing. I can’t stop thinking about them and can’t wait to have more. The oysters were extremely fresh too.
The cocktails are creative and refreshing. None of them are oppressively sweet or acidic or anything. Beautifully balanced. I can’t wait to come back.

Great addition to Grandin area, with excellent cocktail options. We sat at a table near the front door. We ordered a cocktail and a couple glasses of wine, our waitress, who did a fine job, came back halfway through our drinks to let us know the kitchen was totally out of food.
We definitely would’ve rushed an order in had she mentioned the kitchen was running low.
In total we were in there an hour, decent wait time as it was not long after their official opening. But left much hungrier than we should’ve been after 9pm.
We stopped in the weekend after for drinks, bar was packed, tables still mostly full, looks to be an excellent atmosphere. 10pm and they let us know they had just announced last call.
Hope to come back for a better experience and with enough time to try the majority of their menu. Food options looked to be thought through and original.

We really enjoyed the food (eclectic choices) and the service; and their bar is nicely stocked. The drink menu was equally interesting; but for a beer and green olive guy, I was satisfied. It was just too loud for our liking. We were at a small table for two and had a difficult time having a conversation. Definitely not a place to relax and decompress. To be fair, it was Friday after work. We’re definitely going back, but we’ll be going during the week or an afternoon during the weekend.

I split an order of shishito peppers that was served with a yogurt for dipping with a friend. The peppers were delicious with just the right amount of heat. The yogurt provided a nice counterpoint to the taste and heat of the peppers. My main was the vegetarian cheese “steak” and I couldn’t even tell it lacked the real thing. This was all washed down with three different beers from the taps, of which there was a nice selection to cover a range of tastes. We sat at the bar and the seating was intimate but not intrusive. The bartender provided excellent service and was able to answer all my questions regarding the food and the various beers on tap.

Great new restaurant in the Grandin area! They were able to make me a delicious mocktail, the food was excellent, we got the muscles for an appetizer, and that broth is oh so good! I got the yakamin, it was filled with seafood and yummy goodness that makes you feel good inside, my husband got the chicken tendies and I must say that is the best fried chicken I have EVER had! They give you very generous portions we both took food home with us. I ate his leftovers for lunch two days later and the chicken even after reheated was still so tender and delish!
The service was great, polite and helpful. Fun atmosphere with a laid back feel. Highly recommend this place!

Show Pony is one of those rare spots that gets everything right. The drinks are top-tier — crafted with care and creativity — and the food is consistently excellent. The menu rotates just enough to keep things fresh and interesting, while still holding onto a few staple dishes that you’ll crave again and again. And let me tell you, their oysters are hands-down some of the best you’ll find within a couple hundred miles.
The service is always warm and genuine — every time I’ve walked in, I’ve been greeted with a smile and a handshake. It feels like a place that actually wants you there, not just another table to turn.
The atmosphere is what really sets it apart. There’s a single little black-and-white TV playing old VHS movies, which might sound odd at first, but it’s genius — it sparks conversation instead of killing it. Add in the red candlelight, cool eclectic wall art, and a perfect music lineup, and you’ve got an ambiance that’s effortlessly inviting.
Show Pony isn’t just a restaurant — it’s a vibe. You come for the food and drinks, but you stay because it just feels right.

We visited Show Pony on a Saturday. We had a short wait, but were seated without any fuss. The hostess and server were both great. The restaurant is a bit loud, but I guess it’s part of the vibe at a drinks forward kind of place – my only nitpick.
TL;DR fabulous, would visit again no hesitation
This is the first restaurant in a while that had me excited and interested because of their menu. What I had seen online was different than what was current (I learned later that their Instagram has current menus) but what we were offered was great.
We ordered drinks first; I had the Gold Velvet, a rum drink with bitters and cynar to offset the honey, lime, and ginger – amazing. My wife had the Holy Diver, anejo tequila, cassis, lime, ginger, and Fernet as a balancer – also very nice.
We started food with the chips and onion dip. The bagged chips, nothing unusual, were served with a top notch French onion dip that was creamy and punchy without overwhelming. We then had the mussels, Kung Pao cauliflower, and vegan mac and cheese.
The mussels were wonderful, like tasting the ocean in the best way. The trinity/sausage/cream broth was a great accompaniment, and the buttered baguette served alongside was some of the best bread we’ve had.
The vegan mac and cheese was a revelation. The cashew ‘cheese’ sauce was creamy and the tofu ‘chorizo’ was just the right level of spicy to set it all off.
The Kung Pao cauliflower was on the crunchy side, and I generally prefer a bit more cook to enhance its cabbage-y umami flavors, but it was served in what was maybe the best sauce I’ve ever tasted.
We finished up with the Guinness cake, a double layer of moist chocolate sheet cake served with a bit of chocolate (?) whipped cream on top sandwiching more cream and a bit of fruit. Also really great.
We’ll be back.
