Stopped here while passing through the area on a trip. I had a very good Mushroom & Swiss Burger. However, my brother had the BBQ and reports that the brisket was not good while the pulled pork was excellent. The prices were reasonable, the service was fair although friendly.

Had the half of rack dinner, wife had the two meat dinner. Service was awesome, my two complaints are that the music was to loud, and ribs were too dry, ( shouldn’t have to cut ribs off the bone with a knife).

Pleasant surprise. We were not expecting anything more than average due to vacation setting and transient customer volume. This is as good as any smokehouse in The or Texas. Ribs were cooked through and firm. Didn’t fall off the bone. Moist and lightly seasoned. BBQ salad was also excellent. Friendly staff and great service. Pecan cobbler has one of our friends searching for a recipe.

Food is ok – ribs were more smoked than BBQ. The mac-n-cheese was not homemade but the toast was nice. The sweet tea was perfect – not too sweet or too light. Overall, an alright but certainly not great meal. The service was good – friendly and polite.

My wife had the pulled pork sandwich, it was barely warm, she still thought it tasted good.
I had the 3 rib dinner, the bone were small and not a whole lot of flavor, service was good.
They do not take credit cards which in this day and age is unusual.

My wife and I ate here for the first time. Staff was very friendly, but the food was below average. My wife had the biscuits and gravy, the biscuit was hard, the gravy tasted store bought, not homemade. Her silverware had food on it as if it hadn’t been washed. I had the “BBQ” brisket sandwich, french fries, and “BBQ” baked beans. The “BBQ Baked Beans” was Van Kamps pork & beans, no BBQ sauce, and certainly not oven baked. The “BBQ” brisket had no taste at all. No smoked taste, no wet sauce, no dry rub, just bland. Service, and atmosphere I give 5 stars. Food quality I give 2 stars.

I ate here once over a year ago and we hated it. We decided to try it again today and it was so much better. The baked beans and potato salad portion size is very small compared to Whole Hog but the taste of the food is really good. We are glad that we came back.

Shorty’s is our go-to for an outstanding breakfast. The Bluegrass Special is my favorite – two scrambled fresh eggs, country diced potatoes and a choice of sausage or bacon. It also includes freshly baked biscuits and a choice of white country gravy or delicious chocolate gravy – try it and you’ll be hooked. My husband raves about the Western omelette. Shorty’s also serves excellent barbecue. Order the onion rings – they are exceptional! The service is warm and friendly and the entire restaurant is very clean. When we go to Shorty’s Barbecue, we always know we’re going to be greeted by smiling faces and served delicious food.
