It’s not if Shorties will close down. It’s a matter of when. It is up for debate which is worse- the food or the service. Stewart’s gas station across the road looks like it has the same if not a better quality of food. Salty chewy meat smothered in sauce on cheap nearly stale bread is the theme of the menu. Hot dogs that have the texture of road kill, heavily salted so you have no idea what meat (if any) is in there. Shorties survives on its hipster retro decor and tourist traffic from the rail trail.

A fun new restaurant beyond the busy downtown….Located on 32 across from Stewarts, Shorties has a modest/modern feel that is welcoming and chill. I went with my family(3 kids and 3 adults), but the atmosphere felt like it qould also be great for a date or a get together with friends. The service was great and attentive! I had the Fried Chicken sandwich which was fresh, hot, delicious and huge! My kids enjoyed the Mario arcade game and the pinball machines offered inside the restaurant. I’ve also heard the drinks are amazing, and I hope to try them soon! They also offer soft serve ice cream and a hot dog tower!

Best hot dog in the Hudson Valley. Melts in your mouth. Wings fall off the bone, so juicy. Tiki cocktails were very high quality. Great fries and slaw. Lively, upbeat atmosphere. Good choice of pinball machines. Staff is friendly, professional and attentive.

Visiting New Paltz over the cold Presidents Day weekend and found Shorties to be our fun and warm spot two nights in a row. Beside the great atmosphere with good music and Ms. Pac-man, the food and service were friendly and top notch. Our group’s order varied from the tofu reuben, smashburger, udon, and curly fries, but all were delicious and there was a great variety of drinks. Looking forward to returning during our next visit.

Would give shorties a 10 out of 5 if possible. Not only is it some of the best food in New Paltz, but the service is excellent. Came in on Halloween and despite it being jam-packed, our server gave us an amazing experience. Can’t wait to keep coming back!

Such a cozy spot with awesome vegan options. I shared the impossible dog tower and tried the vegan kimchi and the pineapple salsa! Curly fries were crispy and yummy. Good value to share with friends! The pineapple dole whip is delicious 🙂

We watched the owners’ kid walk behind the bar and put their mouth on multiple drink glasses while they watched, put the glasses back, and walk away without cleaning them. Very unsanitary and leaves me to worry on what else is being neglected behind the scenes if that is being done in front of paying customers, won’t be coming back. The curly fries are good though.

Great addition to local restaurant scene – casual bar with hot dog towers. Friendly vibe and great selection of vegan, gluten free, etc options. Nice selection of cocktails and beer on draft or bottle.

Went here a couple days ago for a smash burger and You can choose between single patty or double and ketchup or Big Mac sauce. It was a pretty good burger and it came out quickly. I usually get a burger from sideshow the new restaurant by Starbucks. I would put the burger right below that but still good I’ll definitely come back. I thought it came with fries but you actually have to ask for it which is not a problem I don’t know why I didn’t at the time.

Shorties is a vibe, especially if you have a kid which is so hard to find these days. Food is great, drinks are better, everything is dive-y in the most spectacular way. You feel like a regular your first time.
