We went here last night to celebrate my best friend’s birthday and were having a great time — until it came time to cut her cake. The staff provided her with a knife, and while she was cutting into the cake, the knife suddenly snapped. We were shocked to learn afterward that it was supposedly an $800 sushi knife.
The situation quickly escalated when the sushi chef came out and immediately accused her of dropping the knife and demanded that she pay for it. She calmly explained what happened and even asked them to review the security footage. Despite watching the footage, the staff continued to argue with and berate her to the point that she was brought to tears.
What made the situation even more upsetting was that several individuals associated with the chef came out, got in our faces, yelled slurs, and behaved aggressively as if they wanted to start a fight. It was incredibly uncomfortable and completely unprofessional.
I have never experienced anything like this at a restaurant — especially over a knife that was provided to us by the staff. What should have been a joyful birthday celebration turned into a stressful and upsetting ordeal.
Unfortunately, because of how this situation was handled and how we were treated, I will never return.
First, the portion sizes were comically small. I don’t mind paying a bit more for quality, but the prices here simply don’t match what you actually get. When my plate arrived, I genuinely thought it was an appetizer. For what they charge, you expect something more substantial—or at least satisfying.
The biggest letdown, though, was the so-called “fish sandwich.” What I received wasn’t a fillet or even a recognizable cut of fish—it was essentially a ground fish patty that tasted every bit as unappetizing as it sounds. The texture was mushy, the flavor was off, and the whole thing felt like a low-effort shortcut rather than a signature menu item.
I went in with high hopes, but unfortunately the food didn’t deliver. Maybe I just caught them on an off day, but based on my visit, the ratings didn’t reflect the actual experience.
