While visiting WVA my wife and I stopped by this Shoney’s to meet with family and friends for dinner twice at the buffet they have on Thursday’s. This was our first time back at Shoney’s in 40 years. Our waitress was a young lady who was very kind and polite, and returned to our table several times to see if we needed anything. The prices, the service, the food, and the buffet choices were great!
Thank You Shoney’s, We Had a Great Experience!

What a great restaurant, I had a burger and onion rings. They had a buffet but I really don’t care for buffets and it looked like all breakfast foods and it was noon. I also had a piece of hot fudge cake. I also had the best waitress ever named Sherry, absolutely amazing lady! On the way out I got a stuffed animal as a gift.

The hilite of this stop was our server, Claudia. She was so pleasant and efficient! We also noticed how the staff works together as a team. However, the manager could certainly work on his managing skills, or lack there of. Everyone was busy and he’s barking orders at people instead of helping! The food was not worth the price we paid AT ALL (portion was very small) but I didn’t get the salad bar either. We were just passing through so…and the AC wasn’t working very well either.

Had the buffet, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Aside from the pinto beans, they were edible.
The male supervisor in the black shirt snatched the salad tongs right out of my hand. Then, at checkout, he added a tip himself after I clearly said I’d handle it. His erratic behavior was completely unprofessional and uncomfortable to witness. Either he had too many Red Bulls or was “on something” – I pick option 2. I work in MH & can spot it easily.
The waitress was monotone and had an attitude on top of it all. We had to waive her down to come assist us. Overall, the entire experience was awful. I wouldn’t eat here again even if it were free.

At first I was going to be nice….but, after having my drink dropped from the tray and spilled all over me soaking me down to my underwear, which I did not throw a fit over at all. In fact I helped cleaned up the mess on table, as another waitress was coming to help with the tea and ice on the floor. When I took the bill up I asked them why I was charged for my food after being told it would be for free. The manager got rude and said well that is my call not the waitresses. Then my waitress came up and was like it “wasn’t my fault we got new trays and I apologized”, getting mad that I asked about the bill. Then remarked give it half off and don’t bother to tip me and ran off to rant about me while I was standing there in hearing distance. I’ve worked food service as a waitress and my managers nor me would’ve charged someone who had food or drink spilled on them. I will also note that the manager never once checked in on our table while we were there.

I miss having a Shoney’s in St Louis. It was great to visit during a recent trip to WV. Lunch buffet was great, and we got to share a slice of Shoney’s legendary fudge cake! Waitress was personable.

Swatted a cockroach off of the buffet…got the waitress, she stepped on it. Gave me my meal free. Told my mixed son and his wife at my table if they didn’t physically see it that they will have to pay or get the law involved. I was shocked

The pancakes, chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, were barely warm. No waffles, no French toast, bacon was all stuck together, and the gravy was almost gone and this was before 9:00 am and less than 10 tables were occupied . After contacting the manager, he did not apologize or thank us for letting him know and he did not offer a discount for our table for our special Mothers Day breakfast. But our waitress was very nice.
