Shoku Sushi & Grill offers a refined and higher-end Japanese dining experience with a strong focus on quality and presentation. The sushi was fresh and well balanced, with excellent rice texture and clean, well-defined flavours that reflect careful attention to detail.

The tempura stood out for its light, crisp batter that was never greasy, allowing the ingredients to remain the star. The noodle dishes, particularly the udon, were well executed, with a satisfying texture and depth of flavour that made them both comforting and polished.

The bento lunch boxes offer excellent value for a higher-end setting. Portions are very fair and surprisingly generous, providing a substantial amount of food while still feeling well composed and thoughtfully arranged.

Service was excellent throughout the visit—professional, attentive, and welcoming without being intrusive. The restaurant itself is very clean and well maintained, contributing to an overall upscale and comfortable atmosphere.

Overall, Shoku Sushi & Grill delivers quality food, strong service, and a polished dining environment, making it a great choice for a more elevated Japanese dining experience.

We planned to have dinner at another Japanese restaurant in the area but it was full. We ended up eating here and what a pleasant surprise!
The sushi was fresh and tasty, kids enjoyed their ramen and udon, as well as the power puff ice cream for dessert. We will come back!

Overall, a great experience at Shoku Sushi & Grill. The sashimi was surprisingly fresh and well-cut—excellent quality for Alberta. The crazy crunchy roll and calamari stood out as our favorites—flavorful and perfectly executed. The pork belly skewer was the only real letdown, lacking in flavor and needing a better sear for the right texture. The dragon roll was just okay, nothing memorable. The ambiance is beautiful, and the service was warm and friendly. We’d return for the highlights and the great atmosphere.

Our go to local sushi spot in the SW. The food is great and we love the weekly specials and lunch features. The service is always good and the food is fresh. I hope they keep this up as they become more established as it’s a “newer” spot

Lots of variety and unique dishes to suite your craving for Japanese food. Good presentation of rolls and decent taste. Will be going back to try other menu items (ramen, udon, katsu, etc). Friendly staff & lovely interior. Good hidden gem in west Calgary. Food was ready upon pick up. I look forward to dining in next time.

new opened Japanese restaurant coming with grill and sushi. Also, happy hours from 2pm to 4pm everyday. Jump in for a drink and bites. However, Drinks cost the same, whether they contain alcohol or not. That is so sad for kids want to have the same flavor drinks without alcohol.

There isn’t a lot of great Japanese restaurants in West Calgary and this place was recommended by a friend so we decided to try it out. Good sushi place but they need to smooth out the wrinkles.

Food: Fresh ingredients and beautiful presentations. You can tell the chef takes pride in his/her work. Some unique flavors like sashimi tacos and sushi on toast, which for the most part worked well. Unfortunately, the rolls fall apart easily and the rice is just okay. Restaurant was not busy but it look the kitchen a very long time for the food to come out.

Service: Friendly, but inexperienced. They served us tea in a pot with a loose lid, which came off when we were attempting to pour and the hot tea spilled onto a child. The server panicked and did not seem to know what to do. She ended up getting the manager and he provided us with some ointment. Fortunately, the child was not injured but we felt they could’ve done more.

Atmosphere: Decor is nice and new. Restaurant is open and clean. They have coloring pictures and pencils for kids but no sharpener? We think they are still trying to work out the kinks.

Value: Below par. There are sushi restaurants in the city that goes further with the prices they are charging. $14-34 for 2 tacos? No thanks.

Nice and pleasant atmosphere. Service was attentive and good. We had sushi, tempura, teriyaki chicken udon and tonkatsu ramen. The sushi and tempura were excellent. The other two dishes were good, but not great. The flavor and meat quality could be improved.

First time coming here. Saw something on Facebook or Instagram about this place and had to check it out. Wanted to try the ramen but it was only available for lunch menu so a bit disappointing. We ordered the toro (fatty tuna), crispy crunch roll 9pcs, deluxe sashimi combo and sushi combo. Everything was delicious! The toro was amazing but a little bit expensive. Actually everything was quite pricey compared to other sushi restaurants. I wouldn’t say the quality was better than other places, definitely better than an all you can eat sushi spot for sure. Overall very good experience and will be coming back for lunch so we can try the ramen. For a new spot, it’s worth it but I think there’s better sushi spots in the city for more affordable pricing.

Absolutely incredible sushi!
I stopped in from Kannaskis, driving back home to Edmonton. I wanted to get some sushi that was easy to get to on Stony trail. This place came up with a high rating and it absolutely did not disappoint! The freshest sashimi I’ve ever had full of flavor and tasty fish! It was also happy hour so we got great deals on a California roll, gyoza dumplings and fried wings. I ordered a delicious chirashi don bowl and my husband got the lobster roll. Everything was so fresh and delicious portions!
We also ordered salmon avocado roll, and two pieces of sea urchin nigiri. Two pieces of prawn tempura, beautifully hand dipped and fried. Warm steaming green tea was perfect to pair with everything.
