Great Moroccan food in a cool atmosphere! The vegetable sampler was a delicious appetizer, and the main dishes with lab and beef options were cooked perfectly. Good BYOB spot

I’ve been here a few times with my bf. The food and staff are great. The only complaint that I have is that it’s cash only. There is an atm but it there was something wrong with it.

Shokran is the kind of restaurant you try once and want to come back again and again. I ordered the lamb shank, and it was absolutely incredible – the meat melted in my mouth, and the flavors were out of this world. It was my first time trying lamb with sweet prunes, almonds, and egg, and it was a delicious meal! I also had a side of rice and some mint tea, both were great. The food and service were amazing.

We had a great experience at Shokran. I brought a large group of friends for our monthly dinner get-together, and the food did not disappoint. The lamb was the clear standout. Lamb is hard to get right, and Shokran absolutely nailed it. Several people commented that it was the best lamb they’d ever eaten. The pricing was also very reasonable for such high-quality, flavorful food.

On top of that, the manager was wonderful. I submitted a reservation request online and he personally called to confirm. While we were there, he was attentive and genuinely helpful with our table. We’ll definitely be back and will be recommending Shokran to others.

We went to Shokran based on my sons suggestion. We ordered Harira, Chicken Casablanca, Spicy Garlic shrimp, Chicken Kebab. Chicken was seasoned very nicely. It was tender and nicely cooked. Vegetables on side did not have any seasoning. I wish they add some seasoning to that. Over all great ambience, nice food and service.

One thing to be aware of – cash only. There is big sign at the entrance. Still entire family missed to read the sign when we entered and luckily we had cash

As a Moroccan living in Chicago, it’s a bit disheartening that our rich culinary tradition is represented by only two restaurants in such a large city. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for what we have. My first visit to Marrakech Restaurant set high expectations, so I anticipated great things from Shokran Restaurant. We Moroccans are quite particular about our traditional cuisine, allowing little room for error. Shokran Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way.

From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the spacious interior. The decor, with its traditional Moroccan furniture and seating, immerses you in Moroccan culture even before the food arrives. Our server’s warm hospitality made me feel right at home. The experience was further enhanced by the popular Moroccan songs playing, which had me singing along as I enjoyed my meal.

Now, about the food: it was not only 100% authentic in flavor and presentation but also wonderfully aromatic. What sets this place apart is the impressive speed of service. Despite Moroccan food being time-consuming to prepare, everything was fresh. I enjoyed the Chicken Bastila, Royal Couscous, Beet Salad, Zaalouk, and, of course, the must-have Moroccan tea, which was absolutely delicious.

Shokran is perfect for families, couples (if you want to surprise your date), solo diners, and especially large groups. This restaurant deserves more than five stars. No flaws. Just go and enjoy!

I usually enjoy coming here, but today was unfortunately my worst experience. The waiter was very rude and seemed angry. He placed the plates on the table in a careless and disrespectful way, which made the experience uncomfortable.

The bread was also cold and not fresh, which was disappointing. Overall, the service and food quality today were not up to the standard I’m used to here.

I hope management looks into this and makes improvements, because this place has potential to be much better.

Went here on a Friday evening, 2 of us. The place is cozy, the ambiance is relaxing, and the service is great. We loved the man that was our waiter. The food was delicious. We had the lamb with couscous, the veggie sampler, the hummus, the chicken pastilla, and the Moroccan mint tea. We are definitely going back. Recommended.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Delicious authentic Moroccan dishes served in a cozy, friendly space. The tea is always perfect. If you’re lucky, the lovely staff will share stories of Morocco’s history and culture. Our favorite for hosting visiting friends and family!
