Took my daughter and her friends to Shogun’s in Tyler for hibachi to celebrate her 15th birthday. Dropped about $250 for a fun night out. The chef was professional and the food was good.

But we were seated at a hibachi table with a guest who rolled up with a small dog and plopped it on a human chair at the table—at table height—and the dog was eating during the meal like it paid for the filet.

I’m not anti-dog. I actually have a registered service dog (papers/vest/badge and all) and she would never behave like that — she stays under the table at my feet, and I’m always mindful of other guests who may not be dog people. This was not that. It was uncomfortable and honestly felt unsanitary for a shared hibachi setup where food is cooked right in front of everyone.

Staff acted like it was no big deal, and I ended up moving seats because I wasn’t spending my daughter’s birthday dinner sitting next to a dog on the furniture. The chef did tell her happy birthday and did a quick egg toss for her, but we didn’t get the usual birthday routine (tambourine/song/celebration) and the whole table vibe felt tense — like everyone was just trying to get through it.

Next time we come for hibachi, we’d prefer to share the table with people… not their pets.

June 5th, 2025 was my first dine in experience here. My flt. crew and I decided on hibachi and sushi for our overnight here in TYR as we all seem to have a love for Asian cuisine. I had a lil’ hibachi style salmon some assortment of sushi and even tried a sushi bowl. I also indulged in the pretty drinks/ adult beverages they offered. Please enjoy the pictures and videos I’ve posted with this review.

Came here with my family and loved it! Hostess was so friendly and sat us quick (girl with brown and blonde striped hair.) Our server Reese was so kind too she just seemed a little flustered but we didn’t mind. Chef was great and so funny (I think his name was Mark.) Drinks from bar could be better but we will for sure be coming back!

Arrived at this establishment for a retirement lunch with family about 2pm. We were greeted and seated promptly. The waitstaff to our drink orders and provided menus. About 15 minutes later the cook came out and greeted us and began to prepare our meal right before our eyes. He was neat, clean and very entertaining as worked to prepare our food. We enjoyed the other patrons at our table. It has been quite a long time since we last visited, but we return very soon.

Front desk female very friendly and helpful. I ordered steak and chicken med well. Steak very flavorful. Veggies flavorful and tender. Didn’t take long. Visited 1/4/26

I only wish they had tap. That’s why I gave 4 not five stars. I left debit card at home for my work trip. Had to use my credit card.

First time for my wife and I to go on a date to a hibachi restaurant. The hostess sat us right away. We got the whole hibachi table to ourselves and it felt like we were on a vacation. The waiter was very friendly and informative. The real highlight of the dining experience was Chef Evan. He has been a Hibachi chef for 13 years. He was very skilled with the food that he cooked. Also, he had mad skills with juggling spatulas, knives and flaming torches. The food was fresh and delicious. We will definitely be coming back here!

The cooking performance from the chef was top-notch, super entertaining and skillful. We have been in a lot of hibachi restaurants but he definitely was one of the best, if not the best.

Parking was tight, I think we got the last available parking space at 7:30pm but that also goes to show that people like it here. We got Cody as our chef and he was amazing! My wife and I have had hibachi in about 10 states now and some places we’ve been to are better than others. Cody had several tricks that we had not seen before and he was extremely personable. I would definitely recommend taking kids here. I told the lady at the door our reservations and she didn’t see them on the list but said that there would be a table ready soon, about 3 min later she called out for “Ryan” and I have no idea who Ryan is. When I didn’t respond because I didn’t realize she was referring to me, she acted confused and repeated that a table was ready for Ryan and made eye contact with me and motioned to me so I guess I am now Ryan. The lady who seated us and took our orders seemed either distracted or overwhelmed and multiple people at the table had to flag her and remind her that they had asked for something or ordered something. The place was packed and everyone was having a great time. Many other hibachi places have 2 meat options per person which we did not see on this menu nor did we see anyone else get 2 different meats. They might have the option, but we didn’t ask, nor see it listed. The grilling tables seat 6 or 7 people. Other hibachi places usually do some sort of drinking game whether they are squirting sake into people’s mouths from across the table or doing sake bombs or something. There was a bar in the other room and we did order drinks to have with dinner but we did not see any drinking games. The Japanese Zombie rum drink was not great and neither was the marguerita that my wife got, but the marguerita would have been better if we had remembered to ask for better tequila, sugar instead of salt, and if the restaurant hadn’t been out of strawberries. The fried noodles were not great but the fried rice was really good. I don’t know if the noodles were a one off but I love Asian noodles and was really looking forward to them. Overall we had a good experience. $115 total for the 2 of us before tip covered 1 sushi roll, 2 meals and 2 drinks.

This was the perfect place to take my son for Valentine’s Day. Great show with the fire and the food. The cook did an awesome job. Very in tune with his audience. I forget what kind of sushi we got, but it had fried shrimp in it and it was incredible…and I’m not a sushi guy. The food was cooked just how we wanted. My son and I were smiling from start to finish and there was so much food left that we were able to take home two to go boxes to eat later.
