With 4 star reviews we expected some great sushi. We tried the lunch special- chicken teriyaki with miso soup, rice and salad. We ordered fresh sushi rolls- The California, Spicy tuna tempura(greasy) and The Alaska. Unfortunately the only part of the meal that was appetizing was the miso soup. The chicken teriyaki was tough, the rice and salad ok- and our sushi rolls truly were the worst we have ever eaten.
We were given dirty dishes, the menus were a bit grubby, the table a bit sticky, and the place itself was just a bit dingy. Looking back we should have walked out after noticing all this and that we were the only ones there for Friday afternoon lunch. After looking at others reviews we noticed that they were from 2 years ago- Pre Covid. We will not be returning.
Side note- They do have a nice waterfront Location with great views.

We made a reservation for 8 adults and 2 high chairs (we were told over the phone that it’d be no issue). We were the ONLY PEOPLE in the restaurant. When two other customers entered, they were turned away because “our table was already too many.” I had given my daughter some crackers while we waited for our food knowing it would probably take a while as it was sushi & we had a larger group. i hadn’t noticed right away that My ONE YEAR OLD, threw some of her crackers on the floor along with the wrapper, the waitress picked up the wrapper & pretty much threw it at my sister and I, pushing the crumbs on the table towards us, as if she was saying “clean this up.” we apologized and cleaned it up. She came WITHIN INCHES of kicking my newborn baby. and last but not least, our reservation was for 12:45pm. we placed or order around 1:00pm and didn’t even receive our drinks until close to 2:30pm. I understand our group was large, but the service we received was far less than satisfactory. we won’t be returning.
This restaurant is NOT kid friendly as the only thing i could order my daughter was chicken fried rice & we didnt ever actually get the rice. I don’t recommend coming here.

I love this place. I’ve tried all the Asian style restaurants in this town and I go here exclusively. The food is great and the prices are very low considering the average cost in this town. I grew up in the lower 48 and have made it a habit of trying Asian cuisine wherever I live Seattle, San Fran, San Diego. Shogun is pretty good. There’s a vast difference between soggy overly sweet Mongolian beef that’s been in a big pot all day waiting to be served and what this place does. (The sushi is excellent here too it’s always very fresh I like the Vegas roll and the Alaskan roll ) Your food won’t be ready in three minutes because they make your order as it comes in. But they are still very quick. This isn’t the case at the other places in town and it shows. As the newest Asian restaurant in town they haven’t gotten a huge client base yet from what I can tell so it’s always quiet and empty. Honestly best Asian food in town.

Really good food for the price. I only give 5 stars for amazing food. I eat here about once a week. Lunch specials are around $7 +. And when sunny, waterfront seating is as good as Miami Beach. I lived there too.

The owners are terribly nice. They are not usually so busy its packed (I personally like it when you have the whole restaurant to yourself) so it is a nice place to relax and enjoy a view of the narrows.
Try the caterpillar roll and the spicy beef udon soup so you can die full and happy.

Good food and great customer service! Ordered the fried rice and my friends got the lemon and the sweet & sour chicken and absolutely loved it! Will definitely go there again!

I really appreciate the delicious food and friendly atmosphere in this restaurant. As a vegetarian, there are plenty of choices. The view of the water is absolutely beautiful, the perfect way to enjoy your lunch or dinner!

I had the halibut fish and chips…. It wasn’t halubi, it was cod. They still tasted alright but not what I was looking for. The tarter sauce has a bit of an Asian seasoning to it and was really good. The view from the back deck is beautiful and made the visit worth it. If I go back (there a now a whole lot of dinner restaurant options in Ketchikan) I will stick to the Chinese food.

This place is under rated. You won’t find decent bibimbap or Korean food any where else on our island.
This place has decent sushi. If you want a options from Chinese, Korean to Japanese. Give this place a shot.
Food is good! But This place requires patience.
If you’re in a hurry or you’re impatient don’t expect to get 5 star service here. Because the lady runs the whole resturant on her own. So give her some slack. Order bottled water… other than that you’ll enjoy it!
If you got time. Give shogun a shot and try her korean options. I def suggest it! I love the Korean roll- young roll, bibimbop, galbi, katsu or katsu burger.
