Food and service were amazing. The chefs still know how to put on a good show and cooked our order perfectly. I wish we lived closer to visit more often. This will definitely be one of our stops if we get to back to the St. Louis area!

Small, cozy, and absolutely delightful service and food! Took our family and it was easily the best Japanese grill we’ve been to. In particular, I’m on a very specific medical diet and it’s always stressful going to a new place — Shogun’s staff didn’t even bat an eye. Double checked what I couldn’t have, asked if I need a clean grill, and made sure I didn’t accidentally get anything I shouldn’t, and were kind about the entire thing like it was no big deal. Will be returning for sure!

We love this place but the last time we visited the chicken was pre-cooked and already cut into pieces before it was placed on the griddle.

We made reservations at 7:30, was barely greeted told it would be a few minutes. 10 or so minutes went by and we were told again it would be a few minutes, another couple walked in about 5 minutes later with the same reservation time by then it was about 7:45, they were told they were getting a table ready and it would be about 15 minutes. The other couple and our pair were talking and they decided to leave about the same time we did. We had ordered drinks while we were waiting so when he came back out we asked for the check and told him the other couple left and he replied only with “ok perfect” and handed us our check. No apologies, nothing. He was genuinely relieved that all the customers waiting for their table left. We waited for about 45 minutes after our reservation before we left. They have great food but it’s a shame that the service was so poor that we won’t go back.

Great food, great experience, terrific staff. Everything was great I just wished it wasn’t so warm in the restaurant.

Such a cute little restaurant! My kids love the food and it still tastes fine even after Covid.

I’ve been here several times and love the food! They fold your leftovers into fun shapes like crabs, cranes, and baskets. The fried rice is to die for once you add soy sauce in it. Some of the staff are more chill than showy, but as an introvert, I personally prefer that more.

Of the Japanese teppanyaki restaurants around, this one has the best food and best value. Most other places have eliminated what was the standard shrimp appetizer; Shogun still has this. Most teppanyakis have given in to St Louis’ bad taste and serve “yumyum” sauce instead of a good spicy mustard/wasabi sauce;not Shogun. They’ve got great food, decent prices and fun chefs. How’ve, the place is small, not a lot of space between diners, and really needs a good cleaning (See the ceiling and vents). Overall, 4 stars.
