Ordered a Las Vegas roll, ebi nigiri, combo yaki udon, chicken yaki soba, and a strawberry bubble tea with tapioca pearls. It also came with free miso soup. All came to $90.
The miso soup was good. Some of the best I’ve had. It was the best thing we ate that night. The Las Vegas roll was okay, but not much to write home about. Cream cheese was really warm. Rolls size was very big around. The ebi nigiri didn’t have any wasabi under the shrimp, had a very small portion of rice under the shrimp, and didn’t come with wasabi or ginger on the side. The yaki udon was swimming in oil and I’m used to it having a darker shoyu sauce with it. It lacked flavor. The yaki soba tasted more sesame oil and was lighter too, no darker sauce which was expected, but also had a lot of oil at the bottom of the plate. Not nearly as much as the yaki udon. But more flavorful. The bubble tea was a milkshake of sorts? It was a smoothie, I guess. This wasn’t expressed on the menu. It was entirely too sweet and had a very artificial flavor. I knew it would, but not to this degree. I wish I had known it was coming as a smoothie. Not what I expected what ordering from a “bubble tea” section of the menu. That’s the first that’s happened to me. It’s usually just a flavored fruit liquid tea. I’ve had bubble tea many times. Smoothies are usually in a different section.
There was one chef and one person serving, seating, doing takeout, etc. So the kitchen was far ahead of the service. I got my bubble tea when our food came out.
Overall, I don’t think I’ll return. I was surprised the reviews were so high. The quality does not match the price.
Went to eat last night with the family and had a great dinner. The meal included a salad, edamame, and miso soup for everyone. It looked like they had some new menu items so we tried the spicy pork (which was actually a korean dish) and we loved it. Also ordered 3 rolls that we really enjoyed. Looking forward to the next visit to try some more of the new menu items.
The order we received rated even below an off night for a restaurant. We always order the Westcoast roll, which is a tempora fried large roll with salmon and a side of warm soy like sauce for dipping. It was excellent, but not any more. The roll had an immense fishy flavor and scent. It wasn’t off, it just wasn’t fresh. My guess is it was canned salmon instead of fresh. Also I thought I detected salmon skin which was not in it before and not a good addition. The avacado was black and the roll over just looked messy and not well put together. It fell apart upon lifting it. Also, we were told we had to now ask for the sauce that accompanies it.
I say all this with a heavy heart as I abhore the death of a beloved favorite.
Beware if you loved this place for a while. Ask questions to make sure it is still prepared the same.
I chalk all this up to lack of care, cutting costs and no heart. 🙁
The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff and chef are incredibly friendly and attentive. Highly recommend eating here!
First of all, food wasn’t bad. The bento box was decent. The bibimbap was ok too. But the miso soup was a joke. We’ve never seen so plain miso soup. It was basically hot water with a bit miso. No tofu, no green onions. Well, to be fair, it was free. So you get what you pay for .
We did not understand why they had chairs stacked on top of the counter. It feels like a part of the restaurant was out of business.
We arrived around 5pm for early dinner. They were not busy. But the service definitely lacked the traditional Japanese spirit. It was not courteous. And they serviced us the bill far before we finished our meal. It didn’t make us feel good.
