Friends, fun, and the best pizza in town at Sho Pizza Bar! ✨

The name means “master of one’s craft,” and you can taste that dedication in every bite. Huge thanks to Kevin for the amazing recommendations and to Ash for the warm hospitality. Great ambiance! This isn’t your average pizza—it’s something special. We’ll definitely be back! Follow me on Instagram – @thecannyadventurist for a deeper dive into my reviews.

Tried this place a couple times, but both were average. It’s good, but it’s not amazing. The interior decor is great, service is good, parking is a challenge if the main lot is full. If you get past the hype and star-owner name behind this place, the pizza is just ok. I was glad to see a new pizza spot pop up in Nashville, but the crust is extra dry and there’s not a lot of “wow” to the flavor. The price is on the higher end. I did love the matcha tiramisu.

The absolute best pizza I’ve ever had!
I recently visited Sho Pizza Bar in East Nashville with my family, and it’s no surprise they earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand—the experience was flawless from start to finish.

The atmosphere is effortlessly cool and modern, but still warm and welcoming. We sat in front of the chef’s counter, which I highly recommend; watching the “shokunin” (master craftsmen) work the wood-fired oven is like dinner and a show. It has that vibrant, high-energy East Nashville vibe but feels elevated and special.

The wait staff were incredible. They were knowledgeable about the specific fermentation process of the dough (which makes it so light and airy!) and offered perfect recommendations for our daughter in law’s food restrictions. They were attentive without being overbearing, making the whole night feel seamless.

But the star is, of course, the pizza. This is genuinely the best pizza I have ever eaten. The crust is a scientific marvel—puffed and chewy with the perfect amount of char, yet so light it doesn’t leave you feeling heavy. Whether you go for a classic Margherita or one of their more inventive “Sho-Stopper” pies, you can taste the quality of the imported Italian ingredients in every bite.

If you’re in Nashville, this isn’t just a recommendation—it’s a requirement. Can’t wait to come back!

It took me almost a year to make it to Sean Brock’s Sho Pizza Bar in East Nashville, but wow, when I made it last week, I was blown away.

It was overall one of the best meals I’ve had in town. More than just “a pizza place,” it’s a fabulous restaurant experience, with every detail carefully considered and executed. No wonder Sho was just awarded a 2025 Michelin Bib Gourmand designation.

Chef Brock reinterprets Neapolitan tradition with inspiration from pizza he encountered in Tokyo, the name “Sho” coming from the Japanese word shokunin, meaning a deep devotion to one’s craft.

The dough is cold-fermented for 72 hours in a glass-enclosed “laboratory-like” clean-room. It provides an airy yet chewy crust that’s served with char from the Stefano Ferrara Forni wood-fired oven.

The glass-walled area also displays provenance of pretty much everything in restaurant – the cheeses, meats, vegetables and even the firewood used here. (It reminded me a bit of the lobby at the original Husk).

When, not if, you go, you MUST sit at the 12-seat chef’s counter. You get a front row seat to the pizza-making process, watching dough being gently shaped in a unique sort of process… and pies sliding into the fire.

My server Liz was really great – friendly, attentive, and polished without any sort of stuffiness.

While pizza is the star, the few other items we tried were also delicious. Check out the photos…

Salumi – Beef Pepperoni, Fior Di Latte DOP, Fresh Oregano, Asiago, Calabrian Chili Honey

Supermarg – Tomato Sauce, Basil, Parmigiano Reggiano, Buffalo Mozzarella DOP, Garlic, Evoo

Little Gem & Herb Salad – Sourwood Honey & Yuzu Vinaigrette, Smoked Benne Seed

Marinated Olives – Fennel Pollen & Orange

Slow Burn Margarita – Campo Bravo Blanco, Lime, Habanero

Those two pies were possibly the best pizza I’ve ever enjoyed. There’s about ten on the regular menu, and two or three blackboard specials every day. If I lived closer I’d aim to try the whole menu ASAP.

In short: If you’re in Nashville and love pizza that goes beyond the ordinary — balanced with creativity, fired with skill, and served with genuine warmth — Sho Pizza Bar is an absolute must. Highly recommended.

Wonderful upscale pizza restaurant in East Nashville! We started with the bruschetta and Caesar salad. Both were delicious! We ordered three pizzas: the supermarg, Bianca and mushroom. They give you scissors to cut the pizza with. All of the pizzas were extremely well made and flavorful. The vibes of the restaurant were so fun and it is a great place to go with friends to enjoy a nice meal and chat! Would recommend!

I honestly loved this place. The Caesar salad was super fresh and flavorful, and you could tell the ingredients were really good quality. The pizzas were amazing too, perfectly cheesy, crispy on the edges, and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. The staff were friendly, and the place had a nice, relaxed vibe that made it easy to just sit back and enjoy the food. It feels like one of those spots that deserves way more attention. Definitely worth trying if you’re into good pizza and a great Caesar salad.

We tried 3 pizzas, the matcha dessert, and a salad and they were delicious. I didn’t feel overly stuffed either because of what they do to their crust. The Caesar salad was also amazing. The service was great. I like that the pizzas come with a lemon slice.

I did take away one star because the pizzas are expensive for what amounts to be a very small personal pan size. And I picked this place for a birthday lunch and noted in the reservation that this was a birthday lunch & they didn’t do anything to commemorate. Basically it didn’t really feel like the service or the location of our table was special enough for a birthday lunch. And the restaurant is very small. I generally don’t like squeezing between tables or having to sit crazy close to strangers, hearing their chats, feeling their coughs, etc.

But the food was good so I’ll be back. I just think Sho is better suited for casual outings and not necessarily special occasions.

Overall, great experience. Very nice vibe and aesthetic. The pizzas were 10/10. Tried the sausage and employee discount. Both tasted fantastic. This was a five star review until the desserts came out. They were very underwhelming and mediocre, especially considering the exceptional pizza that we had just eaten! Please do something about the dessert, I’ll definitely come again.

The wait time for a table was estimated at over an hour, so I opted for carry-out. It was well worth it! The pizza was exceptional and incredibly authentic—it truly reminded me of the pizza I’ve had in Italy. As a Michelin Bib Gourmand place, expectations were high, but the quality justified both the long drive and the wait. A must-visit for any pizza lover.

Great experience at the bar. Tried a few drinks, Caesar salad was not lacking on amazing cheese, the Employee Discount was phenomenal and bonus that the employee who created it was one of the bartenders, and I can’t stop thinking about the matcha tiramisu. The maldon salt on top I thought would be unnecessary but really brought all the flavors out. 10/10
Ryan at the bar was also great and attentive, offering suggestions when needed
