I’ve been driving by this place for years and seeing the big 40 beers writing on the roof and if you’ve seen my reviews, you know I love me some beer. So I finally got a chance to stop in, and I was pretty surprised by what I found. The inside had a fair amount of seats, in a couple of sections. The Bartender was great, and the beer menu was really good. Admittedly, I don’t think there were 40 beers currently on tap, but it was 20+. And the food menu was Fire. I ended up with pastrami reuben, cause that’s what I do. And it was good. Good ratio of meet, tasty pastrami, nice and cheesy. Super solid. My wife got the turkey melt and she was over the moon about it. Per her, “they heated up the turkey”, which I guess isn’t that common. So she loved the sandwich and said she wants to go back. So yeah, I think we’re going back 🙂

Update 2021. Shively is open and thriving.. We always stop at Shively’s when riding thru. Great place to rest your road tired eyes, get a nice cold beer and maybe a burger. Pool table, darts and horse shoes out back. Staff is always friendly and welcoming.

Shively’s was a treasure that we found in Oakdale CA, catfish Friday is phenomenal. Ice cold beer and some of the best catfish nuggets & fries to be had. So refreshing to find somewhere close to a camping spot to have a fantastic dinner. We know that the next time we’re down in the area that we will be going there again. They have 40 taps to choose from and the service is excellent. Just don’t get much better than that.

This is true dive bar, therefore, it has great food and service. I had the ribeye steak, with sauteed mushrooms and onions and fries and toast. This was the best steak I’ve had in a while. Jordyn, the waitress was great. I may actually play some pool while I’m here.
