You can’t beat the vibes of the Shiso Crispy Downtown. And Honestly, Shiso Crispy has the best food that I’ve had so far in St Pete.. I’ve only been here for a few months, but I eat out every day. This is my go to place for flavor, value, and vibes. One of their dirty rice dishes is three meals for me. They have vegan, keto, gluten-free, vegetarian, they fry in tallow, like they do all kinds of cool stuff that shows they actually care.

Maybe this place just isn’t my style. I came in excited based on the reviews but left feeling underwhelmed. The dumplings had decent flavor but felt overpriced for what they were—more like late-night bar food. The counter service was unremarkable, though the bartender was friendly and quick. Obsessed with the new location! Same great food, service and atmosphere. There was a ton of attention to detail in the creation of this beautiful new space. My only complaint is that the flies were pretty aggressive outside and some inside as well. It’s not really within the business’s control so no docking points for that but just something to notice for patrons.

genuinely thought it was going to take an hour for the mass amount of people for St. Pete. Pride but it legit took 9 minutes for a group of three. genuinely 10/10 recommend. This place is brave for being open only two days (as of right now) and taking care of everyone during st pete pride. once again would 10/10 recommend delicious food and dumplings!!

Inside, it’s cozy and lively, even if the space is a bit more snug. One bar’s slinging drinks, the other’s dishing out food, though rumor has it, they’re merging forces soon. Avengers-style.
We had a chance to chat with the owner, Ronica, and let’s just say: if passion could be plated, she’d be serving tasting menus. You can feel the love and hustle behind every dish.
Now, the food:
* The Lobster Rangoon was rich and creamy, but if you’re lobster hunting, bring a magnifying glass. More cream cheese than crustacean, but still delish.
* The soup dumplings were like if French onion soup and a bao had a beautiful baby. That charred cheese top? Genius. A bit more onion inside and we’re talking perfection.
* Crispy chicken bao buns? Say less. Just order them.
Yes, the wait times were a bit long, but hey, it’s an opening. Great things take time (and this team’s clearly cooking up something special).
