The Akrami family (Azar & Ata) migrated to the United States of America in the late 1970’s due to the Revolution in their native country of Persia. They left everything behind and with great courage, determination, and faith started a whole new life with their two sons, Ramin and Ashcon. The word of mouth soon reached the nearby cities to their hometown of Louisville, KY, traveling as far as Washington DC. After a few decades of persistence by friends and foe alike to open a restaurant, Akrami’s sons Ramin and Ashcon finally put a front to a very old family tradition of crazy-good food and then there was born Shiraz Mediterranean Grill.

Gourmet food but casual place, so this is one of our favorite place to eat. My go to order is steak kebab with white/basmati rice with habanero sauce. That sautéed caramelized onion add some good flavor to the steak. Other must have at this place is Chicken chipotle panini! Generous amount of volume and will fill your belly happily. 🙂

In the last couple of years the service and, most importantly, the food have been declining.
Had been going to the Holiday Manor location for many years until, a couple of years ago, their manager offended me as a customer so badly that I, my family and and all of my friends stopped going there.
Started coming back to the North Hurstbourne location. Went there tonight. Asked for a specific type of food and reminded 3 (three) times. My daughter wanted it for her bday dinner tonight. What do you know? They failed to put it in my order. When I called them to let them know, they didn’t care.
As far as the food, the prices there growing up way faster than any other restaurants. Quality of food (usually good) – tonight all meats were so oversalted that nobody in my family could eat it.

We were headed to another Mediterranean restaurant when we came here and wow we’re we surprised… this place has excellent food, big portions, cooked to perfection, Great presentation and in a very unique Mediterranean style. The lamb chops were out of this world! They have an outdoor patio that was very enjoyable on this nice summer evening.

I’m happy to go into the small and original restaurant. I’m shocked that they use styrofoam containers. It’s too bad that we cannot think about good environmental practices with good food. I Would frequent the restaurant much more often if they had environmentally conscientious containers for takeout and delivery

The service was quick and my meal came out perfectly! Their food is so wholesome and good- it is healthy & very flavorful!!! I got the Salmon, with grilled onions and tomato and a tabouli salad with pita and a piece of baklava for dessert! Thank you Shiraz for always being consistent and good!!

The food as always delicious. It is a place I use to treat myself because the food is expensive for “fast food” but really worth it. I always get the chicken wraps with sidewinder fries and herbal rice. I hits every time! My son loves it too! The salmon is delicious as well.

The food is always wonderful – however, I DO NOT recommend ordering delivery through the website. They use DoorDash for delivery, but the restaurant takes the payment. My order did not arrive and disappeared from my DoorDash app. I called the restaurant, who said I needed to call DoorDash and when I called DoorDash – they said I needed to call the restaurant for a refund. Lunch for two people was $47.47 which included a wrap with no sides, a kid’s meal and side of eggplant. Be prepared to pay hefty prices and not be able to get issues resolved.

I have enjoyed Shiraz since it was located in a small location on Brownsboro Rd (~2005). I am writing this review to keep them accountable to what they were in the beginning. Great food, large portions, good customer service. My most recent experience: $53 for 2 people. 1 steak kabob, 1 chicken kabob, an order of herbal rice, and an order of greek salad. The rice and salad were served under the chicken kabob. I’m not sure how that is supposed to work for two people. The steak kabob was served completely separate. I was asked for steak cooking temp, and I’m not sure why, because I asked for medium and got very well done. I also don’t understand why 3 groups that ordered after us including carry out got their food before us, but maybe that’s why the steak kabob was so overcooked. Regardless, it doesn’t surprise me after our experience that there were only 4 people including us dining in at that location on a Saturday evening. In addition, neither one of us were satiated after the anemic portions of food. During this time, there was no table service, but I pre-tipped assuming there would be. So to go back their origins: decent food, tiny portions, ridiculous customer service. Get your act together or go out of business. After 20 years of going there, our most recent experience was unacceptable, and I have no intention of returning. Also, if this is read by Shiraz, don’t bother responding, do better.
