Visited the Shiok Canteen location in New West in January 2026. The place was pretty dead during weekday lunch.

Started off with a Calamansi drink ($3) which kind of lacked any flavour. The best thing we had here was the Seafood Laksa ($15.95) which you can customize by picking the type of noodles. The soup was a bit spicy and very creamy. Great dish when it’s cold outside.

We also got the Beef Rendang Puff ($3) and
Chicken Curry Puff ($2.75). Kinda reminds me of empanadas. A lot of flaky pastry makes these filling items.

The Deep Fried Chicken in Prawn Paste ($8.45) was crispy with the coating.

Fairly good value for the food.

Big Recommend ! A great Singaporean food spot that serves delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. The sambals are excellent and serve as a great accompaniment to the rice and rendangs. One special thing to try here is the shrimp paste fried chicken which is both unique and addictive !

A cozy Singaporean place with some decent portions and great food! Really enjoyed their appetizer dishes and their noodle dishes. I’m not a Singaporean myself, but I am quite impressed to see how many items there are on the menu. I highly recommend trying out their laksa 🙂

One of the better laksa bowls I’ve had in a while, rich, bold flavours with just the right kick. The rojak sauce wasn’t quite my thing. The tofu puffs were better dunked into the laksa. The rest of the dinner spread was decent and made for a comforting meal overall.

• Calamansi
• Kaya Toast – Traditional Singaporean classic, toast with homemade pandan coconut egg jam
• Tau Pok – 6 light and crispy tofu puffs stuffed with shredded cucumber and beansprouts, served with sweet and salty rojak sauce
• Seafood Laksa – Nyonya laksa with a spicy seafood coconut base, mix of yellow noodles and vermicelli, served with sliced prawns, fishcake, egg, and tofu puffs
• Nasi Lemak – Fragrant coconut rice with peanuts and ikan bilis (anchovies), otak, fried chicken, egg, cucumber, and nasi lemak sambal
• Chendol – layered ice dessert with pandan jelly, red beans, and coconut cream, all topped with gula melaka

As a Singaporean, I give this place 100%! The food truly brought back the flavors of home, and everything was done with so much care and authenticity. An amazing experience from start to finish, with great service and a warm atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back—now I know exactly where to celebrate Singapore National Day in Vancouver!

Authentic rich shrimp broth in the shrimp noodle, laksa noodle comes with creamy and spicy soup. Satay meat are juicy, which make it better than many other places which sell dry chewy satay. Definitely will come back to try their other items .

Love the food here, and love their excellent prices too! I was here for a late lunch today, tried the fried fish noodle soup for the first time, it was very authentic. Amy, the server was very friendly and pleasant, customer service was superb!

As their signs says, “Singapore without the 17hr flight.”
We tried a number of their snacks and appetizers!
Roti Canai was delicate and flaky with a substantive and flavorful sauce! In my opinion this is the best Roti Canai I’ve had in the lower mainland.
Chwee Kueh was something new for us and was excellent! The sambal was so good we asked to buy some to take home!
The chicken curry puffs and beef rendang puffs were also excellent and so reasonably priced! As good as the hawker stalls in Singapore that specialized in curry puffs!
Can’t wait to go back to Shiok to try other items!

The most legit Singaporean restaurant in the lower mainland. I’ve been to Singapore, eaten at many, many hawker stands, and have tried a lot of the local LM spots, but none that hit like Shiok!

Standouts from our visit include Chwee Kueh (steamed rice cakes with preserved radish and BOMB sambal), the Roti Canai (generous flaky pastry served with savoury curry sauce), chicken curry puffs (savoury stuffed pastries). Everything was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive. You can tell everything is prepared from scratch, with love. Cannot wait to come back and make my way through the entire menu!!

I came across this place through a YouTube recommendation and finally had the chance to try it! Their laksa was absolutely delicious—rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented, packed with generous ingredients. I also loved the satay beef and chicken, which instantly brought back memories of enjoying satay at a Singapore hawker center and on the beach in Bali. So authentic! Definitely planning to bring my kids next time to try even more dishes.
