Ive been here many times and have never had a negative experience. The food is fresh and incredible in flavor. My personal favorite is the spider roll. The gyoza is nice and crispy, and the fried calamari is always a favorite appetizer for my family. The customer service is great, everyone is so kind. The green tea is also really good. By far one of the best sushi restaurants in central Oregon.

We love eating here and so do our 2 young kids. They are so sweet to our family. The food comes out SO quick, which is perfect for toddlers. The fish is fresh and well prepared. We’ve eaten sushi at the finest establishments on the west coast and in Japan, and sushi at Shinsei never disappoints. And again, the service is kind and thoughtful.

In a town full of unnecessarily trendy, pretentious, overpriced restaurants – Shinsei stands out as a true example of a quality, consistent, and humble sushi joint.

I have been here dozens of times over the last decade, and the service is always great – as is the food. It’s not cheap (but fresh sushi really shouldn’t be in Central Oregon) but also not overpriced like other sushi restaurants in town, and I have never once been dissatisfied or had a bad meal here.

It’s honestly refreshing to eat somewhere that isn’t trying to be the “new cool spot”, they are established, and remind me of the cozy, small local family run sushi spots of my childhood.

Wow! So delicious and the best baked mussel I’ve ever had! Jimena was an amazing server and the bartender made our lemon drops on point

Try the whisky sour, it’s amazing. The rolls were on point as usual and their miso soup, it’s substantial, best in town.

Eat here!

I eat sushi all over the world, especially when in Japan of course. I loved it, ordered the sashimi combo with hot sake for lunch before a 9hr flight ($50 after tip, well worth it).

Thick quality cuts of Ahi, Salmon and Yellow tail garnished with shredded daikon, lemon and pickled sprigs. The rice was the perfect quality and texture, not your average US enriched budget rice.

Typical wasabi for the US which I do enjoy however, real fresh wasabi root is something most people will never taste in their lifetime anyway so no worries, it’s delicious.

This place is quality. I have no problem with the atmosphere at all it was clean and decorated nicely just wasn’t anything outstandingly extraordinary.

I stopped by yesterday for a quick bite and was pretty pleased. They were busy and seemed a little understaffed; but the staff that was working definitely did their best and were extremely friendly.
I ended up getting the cucumber seaweed salad, miso soup, vegetable Gyoza and some hot tea.
The salad was crisp and everything not only had great flavor, but you could tell it was very fresh.

I will definitely be back☺️

As someone who appreciates good sushi this place is as good as most places I’ve tried all over the US. Jeremy was an excellent waiter. I went with an eagle eye roll and it was amazing Jeremy said it is one of his favorites. So get that! We also got golden California roll, nigiri tobiko and a spicy prawn roll and sun river roll. All awesome choices. Fast and great pricing. Was going to go to chi but the pricing jump is huge for the same rolls. Will still try chi but this place is my go to in bend for sure.
