I went just before closing and they had sold out with most things. However, the service was fantastic. She made me a rice dish with dumplings from scratch and they were very tasty! Thank you very much, I will be returning!!!

I used to enjoy Shijo Northumbria as a student as the service was usually fast for the quality of food. In the past few months, the place has become understaffed and slow. The opening hours claim to be 11am, yet food doesn’t start coming out until after 12. You could wait 30 minutes for some food. I recommend if you’re not in a rush.

I regretfully must share my disappointing experience at the Northumberland Street branch. This was not my first visit, but it will certainly be my last. I previously ordered a Chicken Katsu Curry with Soba noodles, which was not only substandard but shockingly served without Curry sauce. Bringing this to the staff’s attention only resulted in a half-hearted apology, with no attempt to rectify the situation. A similar occurrence happened when I ordered Ramen soup, where the beef was tough and chewy, making it nearly inedible. It’s unfortunate to see such quality of service and food in a restaurant that I once enjoyed. I hope the management takes note and initiates some much-needed improvements.

This is our regular lunch place and the food is amazing, after eating here we’ve all noticed it makes other curry places look bad by comparison. We love the food so much of the team took his other half there for food to show off how good it is.

The staff are great, always a smile and service is not only high quality but prompt as well. Even with a busy queue you can generally get served in minutes, it’s so good they make McDonald’s look slow but you get much better food. Portion sizes are good and the food is very well made, I can’t say a bad thing about it.

If you’re in Newcastle I would recommend going and trying the Chicken katsu Curry, you can customise it for example a colleague and myself like extra sauce which they added loads of.

An amazing place. Such a great stop for lunch, which offers an affordable and delicious stop for lunch. Chicken Katsu is fantastic, served with rice and vegetables. Well worth a visit, surprisingly busy over lunchtime and a real treat to see a small business expanding in response to the wonderful food on offer. Overall, well worth a visit to eat in or takeaway.

Do Not Eat here. I would give this 0 stars but I have to give 1 star minimum, even 1 star is being too generous for this review.

Yuckysoba. Japanese restaurant tasting almost like some other cuisine. Frozen mixed vegetables £5.9. Couldnt even eat this meal. I am not one for wasting food however this was definitely not going to be forced inside me. I wouldnt even feed a dog with this food.

Miso soup was from a packet.

How can restaurants like this be open? Aweful
