My first visit was back in 1995 on a date with my boyfriend … Well now he’s my husband and we brought our daughter to celebrate her 22nd birthday! Still excellent food and service! The sushi was fresh, the ceviche was tasty and chocolate lava cake was awesome. Highly recommend the 2nd floor seating arrangements on the floor.

I’ve been coming here for years! The fish is always so fresh. Some of their new rolls have been incredible too such as the coconut dragon roll. The floor seating upstairs is always a hit when I bring friends for the first time. Super cute first date spot too!

Have been coming here for like 20 years and every time it is a vibe. I like to sit on the second floor because it adds to the experience. One of my new faves is the crispy tuna. I wish they served sauv by the glass (my only complaint). My daughter’s also love coming here (7 & 5). They get enjoy the katsu chicken, mac & cheese nuggets, edamame, steamed gyoza, and thai donuts. Pictured below is another fave of mine, the Phoenix roll.

This restaurant offers a very unique experience where you can choose to sit on the floor. They have traditional Japanese cuisine like sake. I did enjoy the food. The restaurant is decorated nicely with a warm feel. The server also was nice and attentive. Noise was moderate. Husband spend $100 for the two of us. It’s a cool experience and I enjoyed my time here.

I’ve been coming to this Japanese restaurant for years and it never disappoints. The food is consistently excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The prices are also very reasonable, especially for the quality you get. I’ve always loved this place, but I appreciate it even more now that they’ve made some aesthetic updates. You can tell they’ve put effort into refreshing the space, and it really adds to the overall experience. I also love the option to sit on the floor—it’s such a unique experience and gives your dinner a special, authentic touch. Great food, great value, and a place I’ll keep coming back to.

I came here before COVID and it was amazing. It was such a cool experience. We got to sit on the floor, the atmosphere felt unique, and the deals were incredible. You got a lot of food for the price. I have been begging my family to come back ever since, and I am honestly so disappointed.

When we arrived, we were told we could only sit downstairs. No one walked us to a table. They just awkwardly said “downstairs only,” which completely removed the floor seating experience that made this place special in the first place.

We were handed lunch menus that were very poorly done with almost no descriptions. It makes ordering frustrating when you cannot tell what actually comes in each dish. We came with two little kids and asked for the kids menu, which is listed online, and were told they do not have one. That was strange and frustrating.

When we asked the waitress to explain the difference between the tuna tataki and the spicy tuna salad, she could not properly describe them and answered in a way that felt irritated, almost like we were dumb for asking.

The food was extremely overpriced for what we received. Lunch rolls were priced like dinner rolls, yet the portions were noticeably smaller. We were paying around twenty dollars for rolls that came with only six very small pieces. The sashimi lunch was expensive, yet the portion of rice looked like it was meant for a toddler. For the amount we spent, the quality should have been excellent, but it was not even average. It felt like we were paying premium prices for low quality, rushed food.

We ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box for the kids. The chicken tasted like plastic and had a bad aftertaste. The rice had no flavor at all. I ordered the sashimi lunch, which took the longest to arrive, and the fish was tough and hard, not fresh tasting at all. For something priced that high, the fish should melt in your mouth. It did not.

My sister asked whether the lunch sushi rolls were smaller, and the waitress awkwardly said they all come with eight pieces. Later, after my mom struggled to read descriptions on my phone because the menu did not provide them, the waitress offered the dinner menu so she could see proper descriptions. That would have been helpful from the beginning.

We ended up ordering the tuna tataki after finding better pictures on Yelp since the menu gave us nothing to go off of. It tasted overwhelmingly like raw onion. That was the only flavor coming through. My sister ordered the Pinky Roll, which came with only six small pieces. When we asked why, the waitress said she did not know, then checked the dinner menu and confirmed it was six. My sister sent it back to order the same roll as my mom since it looked larger and better for the price, but even that tasted like old rice. And she is someone who can eat, so it says a lot that she could not finish it.

We did not finish the appetizer. I finished my sashimi only because I was starving, but the fish was tough. The waitress never refilled our waters and overall the service felt awkward and inattentive.

This was a completely different experience from before COVID. Between the high prices, smaller portions, poor quality food, lack of menu descriptions, inconsistent piece counts, and dismissive service, it was honestly terrible.

My stomach hurts a lot right now, so I hope it does not turn into food poisoning. I will update if it does.

I will not be coming back.

We just dined here to celebrate our mother’s retirement and had the best experience. The food is always on point and the service is excellent. Even though we were a group of 12, everything came out on time and all the servers were incredibly attentive.
We love coming here , we’re regular customers , but this was our first time celebrating a special occasion, and after this experience, we’ll definitely be celebrating here more often. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Super cute traditional style interior Japanese spot! Upstairs is Japanese floor style seating, we sat down stairs and were really lucky to be seated so quickly because it was quite busy. Took a minute to order but it was worth the wait. The appetizers we got were the pickled veggies and the chicken Kaarage. Their Chicken Kaarage was some of the most tender and juicy I’ve ever had. We got the sushi for 2 platter and the Toro Toro roll. The platter was massive for two people we could barely finish it. We got assorted nigiri and sushi, a California roll, a rainbow roll and a tuna maki. The tuna was very fresh and my favorite part of any of set of the meal, especially the Toro Toro. Melted in your mouth. Really enjoyed my time here. DEFINITELY make a reservation.

Outstanding Service and Delicious Food!

We had a wonderful dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of authentic flavor. But what truly made our visit special was the extraordinary service provided by our waitress, Khoby.

Khoby was attentive, friendly, and genuinely caring from start to finish. She anticipated our needs without us having to ask, offered excellent recommendations, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our meal. Her professionalism and warm personality elevated the whole experience.

We’ve been to many restaurants, but it’s rare to find service that stands out like this. Shibuy is lucky to have someone like Khoby on their team. We’ll definitely be coming back — not just for the great food, but also for the exceptional service!

Me and my boyfriend came here for date night. The food was really good! We even took an order to go; zero complaints on the food. The upstairs traditional sitting style was a cool new experience as well. We’re definitely coming back! The only reason I took off one star was because of the service. Everyone we interacted with was nice but there were long stretches when our server didn’t check on us. We had to ask another employee, twice, to call our server. Not the biggest deal. Seems like something that can be fixed easily by management. Other than that everything else was great! Definitely coming back
