Beautiful establishment with incredibly kind and outgoing service. I got the kiddos and I lamb chops and chicken and beef shawarma to go to all try and it was terrific. Especially the lamb and rice. Kids loved it too, couldn’t get enough! Can’t wait to take them to try their breakfast shakshuka. 10/10

We spent $57 last night getting food from here and were very disappointed. The bread was burnt and hard. The deboned chicken looked old and was overcooked. The veggies were overcooked. The rice even tasted old. Not going back again.

Well, on a trip to Flint we stopped by Shibam with high hopes, especially for their signature Yemeni dishes, and walked away with a mixed experience.

We ordered the Beef Fahsa, which was excellent. It came out steaming hot in a sizzling bowl and was accompanied by two whole pieces of freshly baked bread—soft, warm, and perfect for scooping up the rich, flavorful beef. That dish alone was worth the visit.

On the other hand, the Lamb Haneeth left us a bit underwhelmed. The lamb itself lacked the depth of seasoning we were expecting from a place known for Yemeni staples. It didn’t come with any sauce initially, and when we asked, we were given a yogurt-based white sauce with a hint of garlic—tasty, but it didn’t quite save the dish. The rice was just okay and didn’t have the usual mandi-style flavor. To be honest, I’ve had better mandi and haneeth at other spots. Some of the lamb pieces even had a pale color that made me think they had accidentally served fish—it just didn’t look or taste like it had been roasted properly. Honestly, we had to force herself to finish the dish.

We also tried their Mango Drink, which was… interesting. It had a unique blend of mango, coconut shreds, and peanuts layered at the bottom. It’s a combination I’ve never seen before, and while it might be someone’s thing, it was definitely an acquired taste for me.

Now, to the positives: the ambience was very nice and welcoming. The place was clean, nicely set up, and had a relaxed vibe. Service was excellent. The Muslim owners personally came to greet us with a warm Assalām ‘alaykum, checked in during the meal, and made us feel genuinely welcome—something you don’t always experience at restaurants.

All in all, I think we may not have ordered the best items, and given how good the Fahsa was, I’m still open to trying more from the menu. But for a place where Haneeth and Mandi are supposed to be the stars, it was a little disappointing. That said, the service and hospitality were truly top-tier, and that counts for a lot.

What an outstanding restaurant, my wife and I love the ambiance here. Katie does a wonderful job of providing a carefree dinning expirence. The music, the lighting the food and prices are all gift wraped here. Once you’re seated you never want to leave, it’s just that kind of a relaxing dinning experince. More gluten free option are being added soon. Can’t wait to get back they..!!

The chicken sandwich was alright… I didn’t like the pickles in it but I also don’t eat Mediterranean ever so it’s probably how other people would like it. I find it odd about the plastic table cloth on all tables. I don’t know if my diarrhea is from the food we ate there 30 mins ago but my stomach is upset. I don’t think I personally will be back but my significant other enjoyed the food and their tea. I had a sip of their tea as well and that was delicious.

Food and service were good. My meal was a bit too spice so I wasn’t able to enjoy it. Hubby enjoyed his lamb meal. Service was fast. Enjoyed the atmosphere.

I was hoping to post about finding the diamond in the rough. I’m sorry to say. It is not even close. The dollar store table coverings should have been my first indication to go. The fresh hot bread was nice, However the food was not good. I ordered the Chicken Gallaba, terrible, I mean terrible, it tasted like straight up green pepper chicken with some spice. I also ordered the deboned chicken. The deboned chicken had flavor, however so over cooked and chewy. I was hoping for a mix of white and dark and it was all white. Which is an option for $2.00 extra dollars. I did not order all white. When I asked why it was all white meat and why did I get charged. The young man at the register stated the shwarma was the only chicken that is mixed.
Long story. Short story, if you want good Arabica/lebanese food you will not find it here. Make the drive to Dearborn.

So I love Middle Eastern food and excited to have such a place local here in Flushing. Great food..ordered once a week since it opened. However, every other order would be wrong and had to be returned and remade. We aren’t talking high maintenance here- remove pickles and add tomato. EVERY. OTHER. VISIT. Mind you, this place is never busy. I always tip 20% regardless, but my last visit I received a wrong order again and the absolute worst fries ever. Made a point of telling “management” not for anything free, but so they knew this wasn’t the first time. The response was to call them back in the next order and remind them. Great..except now they have blocked my number. I obviously won’t be catering to this business at all in the future and look forward to seeing something worthy replacing it.
