Extremely disappointed. I ordered 2 meat Mandi plates, and what I received was honestly shocking. The rice portion was small, and the “meat” was just skin and bone with barely any actual meat on it. It felt like I was served leftovers.

the total came out to almost $60, which is absolutely ridiculous for the quality and portion size. For that price, I expected generous portions and proper meat…. not scraps.

This was a complete waste of money. I will never order from here again. If you’re thinking about trying this place, save your money and go somewhere else. Definitely not worth it.

STAY AWAY!
This was the worst Yemeni food experience I’ve had. The food was tasteless; we ordered lamb mandi, and the meat was essentially bones. The rice was mediocre at best. We also ordered masoob to go, and I had to ask two different servers for it, even though it was clearly sitting on the counter drying up. Eventually, it turned out to be areeka, not masoob at all. The Ramadan atmosphere was nonexistent, with no decorations or menu items reflecting the holy month. In short, don’t go there!

Calling this place terrible is an understatement. I placed an order for one fish at 12:00 and didn’t get my food till 12:50. I used to go regularly to the other Shibam location that’s close to this one, and they were much better and quicker at their service.

One of the Best Yemeni Spots in Chicago – Hands Down

I had an amazing experience at this Yemeni restaurant in Chicago. From the second we walked in, you could tell this place was legit. The smell of the spices, the hospitality, the vibes—it all felt super authentic.

We ordered the Haneeth and Fahsa, and both were incredible. The meat was perfectly cooked—fall-off-the-bone tender—and the flavors were deep, rich, and just hit different. The Mandi rice had that perfect smokiness, and the fresh bread with Yemeni tea on the side wrapped it all up like a proper meal should.

The staff was friendly and made us feel right at home. You can tell they take pride in what they serve, and it really shows. Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere was on point.

If you’re in Chicago and looking for authentic Yemeni food, this place needs to be on your list. Easily one of the best Middle Eastern food experiences I’ve had in the city.

This place is a hidden gem! Flavor-packed, authentic Yemeni food that hits the spot every single time. Their Zurbian is next level like seriously addictive. Perfect for family dinners or big gatherings. I’m already planning my next order

I had a really disappointing experience at this restaurant. When I walked in, there were no employees at the register and honestly, it looked like the place was empty. I waited a long time just for someone to come out and take my order, but nobody showed up. Even after standing there for several minutes, no one acknowledged me or explained what was going on.

Customer service should be the basics, and if no one is available to take orders, it makes the whole place feel unorganized. I ended up leaving because the service was just too slow and unprofessional. I hope they fix this, because right now it’s not worth the visit.

Both the rice and meat were cold and dry.
I paid for extra piece of meat and received an extra meatless piece of bone.
Had to wait 10 min to order cuz the dude was inside the kitchen on his phone texting.
Too expensive for what it is, would rather go to Al Diar.

I paid $27 for the tasteless Haneeth at this place even the soup was so salty when we raised the issue the guy from the kitchen took it and said he gonna give a different one but there was no soup. we had finished dinner, the worker here is so rude the boy who was working at the reception doesn’t care about the customers. I won’t recommend this place it’s not worth it.
