I have been wanted to try African food for the longest time and finally made it to Sherrys Kitchen. The staff was so helpful answering every question I had. I ended up getting a meat pie and the ayamase and wow, they did not disappoint. The spice level was perfect, the food came out hot, and the portion was large! I will definitely be back to try other things!

Great service and food. I’m so happy to now have an African restaurant in closer proximity instead of having to drive to Philly or up north just to get quality African food. Plus, I love that they were able to veganize my dish and it was delicious. I will definitely be supporting this establishment as long as they’re open. Best of luck!

Ok this review is no way to bash this company but this food was horrible the meat party was dry the egusi was disgusting and the goat was not fresh. It was gamey and tough. The price for all this was just not worth it. I’m paying $60 for two platters I expect some good food. It just was such a disappointment compared to the African food I had in Voorhees. The best part would have to be the pounded yam. I really hope they improve I was so excited to have a African spot by the crib

Sherry’s African Kitchen is a gem. The flavors are rich, comforting, and authentic in a way that makes you feel like you’re enjoying a home-cooked meal. The beef meat pie was outstanding—perfectly seasoned with a flaky crust that sets it apart from anything else in the area. The plantains were a hit in my household; my kids tried them for the first time and kept coming back for more, which says a lot.
Service was warm, the atmosphere was inviting, and every dish had care behind it. I will be back, and I’ll be bringing others with me. This place deserves every bit of praise it gets.

I’ve eaten at almost ALL the West African restaurants in Philly and the small handful here in South Jersey. One of my favorite dishes is goat pepper soup. I just finished work and thought I’d give it a shot since it’s on the route of my way home from work. I called and placed an order for goat meat pepper soup. I got there and it was already in a brown paper bag waiting to go. I paid $17.05 and I looked in the bag to see if they included rice since most places do with this dish. There was no rice. In fact, I was shocked by how small the portion was compared to how much I paid for it.
The soup came in one of those small semi-clear plastic containers; not the bowl kind with the lid, but those small plastic containers. My guess is it maybe 1 to 1.5 cups of soup in the container. Think about your measuring cup at home, 1 cup is not much for an adult. I was such in shock at what I got I kept saying, “woooowwww, $17 for this?” As I walked out. I was so dumbfounded and felt so ripped off that I actually called the restaurant a few minutes later and told them I’m giving them a 1star rating on Google.
I told them that ALL of the other west African places give you at least DOUBLE that portion for less than what they charge. Most also include some rice with it. Eatwell Philly charges $20 but you get almost 3 times the amount of serving than Sherry’s gives you for $3 less!!!
I can go down the list of what you get for what you pay for but it would turn into a very long read. Don’t waste your time, just take your money somewhere else, especially if you’re hungry or looking for dinner.
The ONLY positive is the soup is good, but not worth the $17.05 they charge. Also, some other west African places in Philly have better goat meat pepper soup.

Drove almost 30 min here and it was worth it ! First bite instantly gave me a flash back to my childhood , eating spicy red stew with chicken , this time with beef , very tender btw . Will be coming back , best stew so far in the tri state area . Can’t wait to taste other dishes on the menu !

I gave this restaurant two chances, and both visits were a complete disappointment. I ordered Efo Elegusi and a meat pie on two different Sunday evenings. The portions were extremely small, the chicken was old, dry, and unpleasant, and the meat pie was so dry it was inedible—I threw it away.
I genuinely wanted to give this place my business, but the quality was unacceptable. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

They’re entirely overpriced! I paid $41 for this meal here. The two little pieces of beef I got were hard as bricks definitely not fresh. The flavor is good which is the only silver lining

I have visited this restaurant a few times. But the last two times have been different. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt because the owner is a family friend, however I have to point out the issues . This time the jollof rice tasted old. Like it was stored and refrigerated for days or maybe even frozen and reheated. If this is the method or their process it needs to be change immediately. No one wants to pay $40 for 2 people to eat old reheated food. I support this place thinking I’m eating fresh food (made the same day atleast). I have also noticed the rice is not as spicy as the normal from someone’s home. I am assuming maybe to cater to the surroundings but please if someone is coming in to buy African food we want the full experience. Also the meat portions are extremely low.
