This place serves very authentic north eastern Chinese food. It tastes just like home. During the hush winter, the crispy and sweet 糖葫芦 (hawthorn candy) will always give me fond memories. We ate here twice already from our visit to LA.

The portion is pretty big and price is even better. In this inflation age, their prices seem still stuck from several years ago. The food came out really fast so our table of six was able to enjoy our hot crispy pork within 10 minutes.

My wife is from ShenYang and we believe the owner came from Shenyang as well. She loves their cold noodles and it has special sweetness different from South Korean restaurant. The soup has more flavor.

We also ordered their Fried Sweet & Sour pork. (锅包肉)They cooked this to perfection. It is crispy, sweet and juicy. We order this dish every time we come here.

We will definitely come back if we visit LA in the future.

The food is very delicious and authentic,
and the portion is generous regarding the price.

The service is fast, and the staff are friendly.
Many dishes here are rarely found in other northern restaurants, so I will come back again.

I had the pleasure of dining at Shenyang Tasty in San Gabriel, CA, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant’s inviting atmosphere, attentive staff, and, most importantly, the delicious food made it a memorable visit. Their menu showcases the rich flavors of northeastern Chinese cuisine, and the dishes are expertly prepared.

I highly recommend trying their hand-pulled noodles; they are a true delight. The dumplings were also a standout, bursting with flavor. Whether you’re a fan of spicy or milder dishes, Shenyang Tasty has something for everyone.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, making us feel right at home. Overall, Shenyang Tasty is a gem in the San Gabriel culinary scene. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their delectable offerings. If you’re looking for an authentic and delicious taste of Chinese cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit.

Super delicious! We ordered a variety of dishes, and some of the most pleasantly surprising ones were:

1. Sweet and Sour Pork (each piece was just the right size, very crispy but not hard, and the sweet and sour flavor was perfect).
2. Cumin Chicken Wings (very flavorful with just the right amount of cumin, they seemed to be fried and had a bit of crispiness).
3. Sour Cabbage Stew with Pork (unexpectedly delicious, the pork was tender, and it paired perfectly with the sour cabbage).
4. Northeastern-style Cold Jellyfish Salad (the mustard flavor might have been a bit strong, and it would be even better if the sesame sauce was a bit heavier, but the jellyfish was chewy without feeling heavy).

Finally, we tried some candied hawthorns on a stick (my first time trying them, they were very sour, but the sourness was balanced with a hint of sweetness, and they were quite delicious).

The only commend was that the restaurant seemed a bit old, but I hope they can open a new one in Irvine in the future.”

First time in this place. Looks new, hosts looked rather surprised by a visit from a “foreigner” lol..Ordered squid and vegetables salad, was very good, fresh, balanced textures and flavors, just enough spicy. Candied hawthorn berries were delightful. Friendly, patient service. Must revisit

This is an authentic Chinese restaurant with traditional northern Chinese dishes. Every time I’ve walked in, not only am I the only laowai but I’m looked at with shock and surprise that I’m there; doesn’t get more authentic than that.

The guo bao rou (crispy sweet sour pork) is absolutely delicious. Many dishes here are not for the shy western pallet. You have to be ready to grab adventure by the baos. If you’re looking for something more aligned with American tastes, order the walnut shrimp and the Yang chow fried rice…you won’t be disappointed.
