The food is tasty though not groundbreaking- generally comfort food mains with a Southern vibe, sandwiches and salads . The service staff was pleasant and friendly- from hostess thru bus staff. Refreshingly. And outside atmosphere is chatty / not quiet but lovely to sit under the trees. Cute koi pond and small garden shop to meander afterwards. Oh- and the darned fried hush puppies basket they bring is dangerously addictive. Warning- they disappear too quickly lol.

It’s one of our favorite restaurants in SoCal specializing in Southern comfort food. We arrived at noon for lunch today and we got the last table. No reservations accepted for lunch unless the party is 8 or more. Parking is challenging, there are limited number of spots in the parking lot, street parking is also an option. This is a great date spot or family gathering, it has both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor is quite shady with the trees and the umbrellas. The staff is very attentive refilling our drinks. The food is consistently good, almost everything in the menu is yummy, not to mention the prices are quite reasonable with good portion size and high quality ingredients.
Rick’s Mushroom: 9/10, use the biscuits to soak up the sauces.
Granny’s Fried Chicken: well spiced and juicy (8/10). The side of cream spinach is excellent.
Garden Fresh Fish with Chilean seabass is so good, the Sautéed vegetables are a bit too salty but the fish is amazing (9/10)
It’s not complete with the southern Iced tea with mint syrup. It’s free refill.
Hot mulled wine is also good.

Category: Gastro Pub. Although the quaint, simply appointed, beamed-raftered and hardwood-floored inside dining room would be the right place to dine on the right night, al fresco is the place to be: a large patio, naturally shaded by stately old trees, a bridge between two ponds, Tom-Sawyerish fishermen statues tempting real Koi in the ponds below. The restaurant’s full name is Shenandoah at the Arbor. Webster’s defines ‘arbor’ as “a shelter of vines or branches.” Because a picture is worth a thousand words, the word could be more concisely but accurately defined by a photo of the patio. And if the branches and vines are not always enough, umbrellas guarantee shade when it’s wanted. At night, strings of fairy lights make the arbor almost magical. In case of a chill, an army of heaters stand ready to be deployed. What’s missing to make it perfect: music. Oh, wait, live music began just after we seated, at which time wine was the first order of business, as it always is. We were happy to see that about half of the reds were $50 or less (our sweetspot for restaurant wines). Before we ordered, the famous Apple Fritters touched down. Our hosts’ earlier ravings about them turned out to be justified. The menu, which I call elevated comfort food, offered many temptations. I chose the deeply savory Chicken Tortilla Soup to start. For my main I chose the delicately delicious Sand Dabs, which I rarely see east of the California Coast. My friend, who is a regular, chose the fried chicken, which he orders on every visit. It was an evening of greats: setting, atmosphere, wine, food, music, service, and most importantly, friends. YouTube’s Chef’s Apprentice

We met a friend there for dinner. It’s in the middle of what appears to be a residential block. It was very pretty. Once inside, we were greeted and taken immediately to our table outside on the patio. They have fairy lights in the trees and on the fences that make it a quiet secret garden to enjoy your meal. I had called earlier to ask about a gluten-free menu and spoke with one of the servers who seemed very knowledgeable about what they had to offer. I ordered the prime rib with garlic mashed potatoes(Gf), and my dinner company both ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. All were very good, and we all brought home leftovers. We also enjoyed their creme Brule (also Gf) and their German cake. Our server Dani was great. She understood my allergy and asked questions when she needed clarification. I appreciated her cheerful attitude as well.
