My partner and I ate lunch, had several cocktails and chilled on the loungers here. The location is idyllic and the staff are very kind and happy. We had the prawn special fried rice and the chop suey vegetables in fried rice. Both portions were enough for two. You could be forgiven for thinking you’re in an aviary, as the constant squawking can get on your nerves. The stray dogs, cats that wander here are well fed and very old. Adds to the charm of the place really.
Also we drank two cocktails each, pineapple and mango with shots of vodka and two pints of Lion beer. The loungers you pay for unfortunately. The cocktails could be cheaper and more adventurous, alas you’re paying to see the sun set. This in itself is why traveler’s make a bee line for here. From the centre of Colombo, it’s 20 mins in a tuk tuk. Pay no more than 720 rial on Uber app.

A simply racist restaurant in Mt Lavinia beach. Me and my wife (Wearing Hijab) went today during lunch time. I requested 03 waiters to give me the menu card. None of them either greeted us or said anything. To my utter surprise, white skinned customers (Sorry for pointing the color to portray the real incident) are Being greeted and given with the menu cards. Then once i got up from my table, waiter directed me to go to the billing counter and talk. I went to the counter and before saying anything, the counter guy informed me that their kitchen is very busy today and food will be served late. No polite gesture, neither a sorry. I felt tremendously insulted and left the restaurant. I visited this beach after 11 years with a reminiscence of old memories. But this bunch of racist idiots ruined my day. I am not sure whether my colour of my skin or my wife’s Hijab was the issue. Hope the management would rectify the idiot waiters.

Had a great morning and early afternoon at Shelton! Kind service (especially by Tharaka), good coffee and tea, and great food; we particularly loved the grilled barramundi.

This is a good Restaurant at the beach. Good food and very friendly staff. As a guest you also can get a beach lounger and have shower here. Price is a bit more Tourist but it is worth it considering that you can have your stuff at a safe place and everything else. Will come here more often.
