I come here often with my family, and it’s always a great experience. The truffle fries and shrimp Caesar salad are my go-to favorites, consistently delicious every time. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and the service is quick — I’ve never had to wait long for food. Shelter Distillery has definitely become one of our regular spots.

This place reminds me of places in the hill country of Texas. They have a really nice staff. They whiskey is delicious and the prices are really reasonable. If you’re staying at the Fairmont it’s an easy walk. I’ll come back next time I’m in town.

Stayed here as a Harvest Host. Very quiet location, food and drinks were wonderful. We stopped into settles from travels and grabbed a few drinks and dinner before retiring to our spot to sleep for the night. Live music was great and service was good too. You can order through a tab you manage on your phone or through a server. We had already started a tab through our phone at the bar but transferred for the views outside and just maintained the tab. Kind of a nice way to be able to enjoy the entire facility. If you haven’t been don’t sleep on this spot.

Just had a fantastic lunch here! Great service, delicious food and even had 2 cocktails which I never do but couldn’t resist! Had the fish and pork tacos which were some of the best I’ve tasted. Sat outside under the huge awnings and could watch the river pass by. Wait staff were professional and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Opening Weekend: Just opened and has wonderful potential. The building is beautiful and is in a fantastic location. My husband had the Bison Onion Smashburger ($18) and Truffle Fries ($3) which were both very good. We attempted to eat the Yellow Fin Ahi Tostada ($17.50). Although not described as spicy on the menu, the majority of the tuna was soaked in chili crisp oil and then dusted in ground cayenne pepper (see photo). The staff was polite albeit a bit nervous as they spilled drinks on both myself and my husband. The beverages were inconsistent. The Strawberry Lemonade ($6) I ordered off the mock-tail menu was sickly sweet, served in a highball glass and the Spicy Margarita ($13) was meh. The gem of the craft cocktails was the HoneyDUDE ($13). Overall, we are excited about the potential of Shelter Distilling. We will be back and look forward to trying it again in the future.
First Update May 2024: We returned on Memorial Day. My husband had the Joe Burger and I had the Philly Cheesesteak. Both were good. Food and drink delivery were efficient. As during our previous trip, we had trouble getting a to go box despite flagging front staff and requesting it. After 15 mins I just walked out with my leftovers in a napkin. Overall wonderful atmosphere and good selection of food and beverages.
Second Update May 2025: Returned twice over the weekend. The menu has been updated, the service was better and they have responded to the feedback from the community. I like ordering on the app but it was nice to physical menus for those that need them as well. The menu has also been updated since they opened and works well for groups with varying tastes.
Third Update: We pretty much eat here every Taco Tuesday. Sometimes we dine-in with friends. When we cannot dine-in, we order carry out. They utilize Toast for online ordering. Wish they would join Resy even if they just utilize it for reservations for large groups so we could use our quarterly $100 AMEX credit here.

Atmosphere is super clean, crisp, modern. Right on the river you can walk down to. Lovely waitress. Hostess wasn’t lovely! Fun big brewery to experience. Highly recommend checking it out. We only got fries, so I don’t know about the food. Sorry. Beer was great tasting!

My wife and I drove all the way from Cedaredge tonight just to have some of your food and cocktails that we absolutely love. That’s why we drove 35 miles out of our way because we enjoy talks cooking. But when we arrived at 8pm the bartender told me the kitchen was closed. Which was odd because when you call your phone it states the kitchen is open till 9pm. Which at first was okay we were just going to order cocktails and get food elsewhere. But then right after the bar tender told us no he allowed other customers to place a food order. I expect a refund for my cocktails which was 2 sierra waves. I don’t like confrontation so I didn’t mention anything. We payed for our drinks and left. But to drive a full hour just to have y’all food be refused and then have other customers place orders is truly defeating and I don’t think we will be coming back.
