This a great home cooking restaurant that offers up a very satisfying and tasty meal for an extremely reasonable price. A different meal special is served each day and includes a potato dish, a roll, a vegetable, a dessert and a drink. I happened to be passing through Vernon on a road trip a little after the lunch rush hour ans was able to enjoy a great meal in about twenty minutes total time from entry to exit.

It may be off the beaten path and a little hole in the wall, but talk about great food and some of the best customer service during our travels. It is cafeteria style and they have different items each day of the week I believe. Shelly herself came and talked to us at our table. Her sister was also very helpful. What a blessing during our trip. Glad we went off the road and decided to search for somewhere to eat in this small town. Not disappointed. We WILL return during one of our travels!

Shelly, a former school cafeteria director, makes delicious “everything-from-sctatch” food in a cafeteria-style setting. We stopped on our travels from AZ for a quick Sunday lunch. We enjoyed the crispy chicken-fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, fresh green beans, amazing creamed corn, creamy mac n cheese and a fresh baked yeast roll. A yummy piece of home-made cake with vanilla icing was included along with a large glass of iced tea. Shelly actually took the time to sit and visit with us for a few minutes telling us some of her great employees are here sisters and nephew. Definitely a family affair.
The building is a little older but it’s clean and well run. The friendly staff and excellent food make up for any lack of ambience. If you’re looking for really good food, a reasonable price and Texas hospitality, you’ll find it in abundance here.

We arrived just before closing on a Sunday with a dog and two young kids whilst on a long road trip. The team were really friendly, helpful, and accommodating despite it being the end of their day and really went the extra mile to make sure we were all comfortable. The food was also delicious home cooking, lots of it and good value for money. Is well worth a stop if you are passing through.

This place was excellent. We were just passing through and honestly didn’t have high expectations. They only had one meal to choose from but every single thing on the plate down to the dessert was delicious. Super impressed and we will stop by again as we travel this route often. The staff was very nice as well.

Great scratch kitchen. Had an amazing breakfast and watched football all day. The only thing tough about the order was my two shots of 1800 cost $20! WTH! I can buy a big bottle for $43 so I wasn’t happy about that. Everything my but the hard alcohol prices were fair and for the good food prices are great.

It’s a family friendly place with home cooked delicious food. An overall great experience. Great place to take your family and friends to eat. Our family enjoyed the beans corn bread and Roast with potatoes and carrots. The dessert peach dump cake wow it was all delicious. Shelly is an amazing cook. With a heart of gold I wish her all the best and success, she puts a lot of love in every dish.

Great home cooked food. I was having my indulgence meal (I am a heart patient) and the food tasted great. The mustard greens were a bit salty so they gave me some raw veggies to compensate. You will enjoy the food and service.
