I’m a New Orlean’s native, living here since 2005 and today’s visit to Shell Shack was the first time in 20+ years that I’ve had what taste like authentic New Orleans fried seafood in Dallas. I had the oyster basket and it was easily a 10 out of 10. My daughter had the coconut shrimp basket, and she said that it was a 10 out 10. My son in law had a seafood boil that consisted of boiled shrimp, mussels, snow crabs, potatoes, corn and, smoked sausage with the kitchen sink sauce; he gave it an 8-9 out of ten. We had the fried calamari and it was the best we’ve ever had; 15 out of ten! The hushpuppies were even delicious and a 10 out of 10 as well. We thoroughly enjoyed everything and we’ll most definitely be back.
Second visit: Today I had the absolute pleasure of Dasia being my server and she was the most friendliest and welcoming ever. I ordered a dozen of raw oysters (they were large as you can see by the pic) and calamari this time and both were delicious, but the star of this visit was Dasia and I’m looking forward to my next visit to Shell Shack which will be soon because the food really is that good.

The most disgusting crawfish I’ve ever had. I am from Louisiana and I know my crawfish, been growing up eating them. I ordered from this store via DoorDash today. I opened the bag and had two that were extremely chewy and burning hot in the center. I could tell right then and there that these were microwaved. The third one I had, was green in the center. See picture. I threw that one away and opened another one, because I about spent almost $50. EGGS. CRAWFISH EGGS. SEE PICTURE. I have never felt so disgusted and repulsed eating crawfish ever in my life until tonight. I want to throw up. I feel nauseous even writing this review. I threw them away immediately. There is no excuse for this, it’s crawfish season currently. It’s not like they’re out of season and frozen. I feel bad for these poor Texans that give crawfish a try and this is what they receive. If a store is giving this via DoorDash/in store pick up, I don’t have to wonder what they’re serving to their people in the store. To the Texans that have never tried crawfish: they are supposed to be buttery, a little spicy, juicy, and soft yet firm to eat. If you ever see crawfish like these in the photos, do NOT eat them, they can make you very, very sick. DO NOT EAT AT THIS STORE.

Good food, but service needs work. The seafood was good, but the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and inattentive. Come for the food, but be prepared to be patient. My toddler had the kids meal no dippings were provided.

We had such a great dinner and the service was really fantastic! Our servers name started with a “D” and she was just the best. My son plowed 4 lbs of crawfish and enjoyed every one of them! Thanks for a great night out.

Great place for a seafood boil. Prices are economical and the place was clean. I love the handwashing station and the overall atmosphere. Location is good. No trouble parking. Attentive server until I told her my calamari was too greasy. She seemed to not care.

I’ve been to this place way too many times and it’s unfortunate that today I have to leave a bad review and possibly no longer eat here. While enjoying the Tuesday meal deal I FOUND A LONG ASS HAIR WRAPPED INTO THE CRAB I ordered. Of course I wanted to not believe it was a hair in my food but it was. I expressed this to my server and she kind of hesitated before taking the food away and processing the hair that was found. The manager came over not really concerned about my find but provided a solution by redoing my order. My new food was brought out and it was half way done, I was missing my corn and potatoes I originally ordered – again requested it and the server basically gave me “ah you wanted that too.” and Yes I do want that too that’s what I originally ordered before hair was found in my food. I ate and asked for my check once I was done. I’m not going to lie I expected compensation after my discovery but there was none. I asked the server and she said she had to ask the manager because he already brought me out new food. And as a person who’s worked in customer service when your customer is unhappy with the service provided due to a mishap like finding hair in her food you would make sure that customer was happy leaving out your establishment. INSTEAD I am upset, the manager came over and argued with me basically saying it wasn’t their fault hair was found in my food and that it wasn’t their fault and the hair was from the ceiling. Now first and foremost why would you not admit fault for the action that took place and secondly how are you blaming everyone else but the problem at hand. Your cooks are not wearing hair nets and are handling food. Your cooks are not using proper food and restaurant etiquette for there to be mysterious hair flying around in ceilings of your establishment. The manager was not nice and told me that I received enough compensation by getting my meal replaced when in reality I should have never had to have my food replace which means THERE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN HAIR IN THE FOOD SO THAT MY FOOD WOULDNT HAVE TO BE REORDED. And once I expressed that I didn’t appreciate his customer service and how he handled the situation and for that I wouldn’t be returning he said it would be on me to not return. Shell Shack you have disappointed me. And although me no longer coming to this establishment may not stop your terrible business I hope there is some training provided to your management team as well as your staff learning how to use proper food handling etiquette and better customer service skills.
