Unfortunately, over time things seem to have declined. On two separate occasions, my husband and I went in for lunch and stood at the register for about 20 minutes without anyone coming out to help us. We weren’t acknowledged at all. During one visit, we even tried calling the restaurant while standing inside to see if someone would come to the front. We could hear people talking in the back and smelled cigarette smoke from that area, but no one ever came out to assist us.
Additionally, the restaurant itself appears to need some attention and upkeep. There is a noticeable mildew/musty smell, and seeing grease dripping down the walls while eating is not very appealing. Flooring sticking straight up from the floor for people to trip over…
The pricing also feels high for what you receive. Paying around $50 for two people (no extras, nothing extravagant) feels excessive given the portion sizes and overall experience.
I truly hope they can turn things around. It started out as a great addition to the community, and I would love to see it return to the quality and service it had when it first opened.
What a surprise treat.
Kung pao shrimp is spicy and delicious. Tip, mix it all together as the spice settles.
Cream cheese wonton, delicious.
Walnut shrimp had huge shrimp, but the walnuts were put on after rather than mixed in but still tasty.
The Calamari was AMAZING!!
The sushi is really good as well. We had the M16 and Vegas roll.
Thank you for the very tasty dinner on a cold night. 🙂
Food: Everytime I’ve eaten here it has, not only been really good, but stacked with chicken (I always get the Sesame Chicken) and it’s just never been bad. There is some cheapness with the fortune cookies, and sometimes the white steamed rice feels fast-foodish it’s all still good though.
Service: Always been top notch. They’re respectful, nice, and always down to help if need be.
Atmosphere: It’s alright. Nobody eats in too often, at least when I go in, but sometimes the tables are messy, and it’s all a little unorganized but not a bad spot to have dinner or lunch.
When we walked in, there was only one staff member working. He seemed busy helping an elderly lady and two customers ahead of us. As my husband began placing our order, my son—who was exhausted from a long road trip and extremely hungry—started having a meltdown. While I was trying to calm him down, the staff abruptly told my husband that we were not welcome to dine in and could only order takeout.
Now, putting aside the fact that my son has special needs, I can’t help but wonder: would they do this to any family just because a child was having a difficult moment? My son had only just started, and I usually manage to calm him down within a few minutes.
Yes, it’s their restaurant and they have the right to serve whom they choose. But the way the situation was handled felt cold and completely lacking in empathy.
What makes it even more ironic is that their Chinese logo comes from the Bible—五餅二魚 (five loaves and two fish). The way the staff treated us was anything but Christian-like.
Lastly, the washroom was quite dirty. In a strange way, I’m thankful the staff turned us away—we didn’t end up spending our hard-earned money in a place that clearly didn’t want us there.
