Small, family-owned eatery providing ample plates of Ethiopian fare in a relaxed atmosphere.

We visited this place for the first time to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The owner Aster welcomed us warmly. She offered complimentary tea and a birthday cake, which was very thoughtful. The food was very delicious. The portions were large, and the service was excellent. We also liked the Ethiopian honey wine. Overall, it was a great experience. And we would definitely return. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Foods taste nicely. I ordered for take out, everything was fine. They paid attention my note that wanted Injera bread on the side. Only one thing that I was wondering, I ordered Beef Sambusa & Sheba Combo (2 meat dishes and 2 veggie sides) All was correct and tasty (Sheba tib, Doro Wot, Tikil Gomen, Kay misir) but I thought Doro Wot is supposed to come with chicken leg and hard boiled egg. But why I didn’t see egg in my dish. It is not a big deal for me, just want to make sure they serve as they have described on the menu. This restaurant has enough space for dining table, clean and organize. The parking is free but quite limit spots.

Sheba is an absolute gem, a cozy haven for authentic Ethiopian cuisine served with warmth and care.
The staff’s attentiveness and genuine friendliness enhance every visit, making the dining experience as memorable as the food itself.
Every dish I’ve tried here has impressed, but the doro wat stands out as nothing short of phenomenal, rich, deeply spiced, and perfectly balanced. The vegetarian dishes are equally exceptional, especially the lentil preparations, which showcase the kitchen’s mastery of texture and flavor.
If you’re searching for a truly authentic Ethiopian dining experience, Sheba should be at the top of your list. And whatever you do, don’t skip the samosas, they’re the perfect start to an unforgettable meal.

My first Ethiopian food experience was at this restaurant and it was a great one! I loved the food, the Injera bread was perfect (AND it’s gluten free). The taste of the food was flavorful and the flavors were on point.
I got a mixture of chickpeas, lentils, chicken and lamb (sorry I don’t know their exact names).
For non-spicy eaters like myself, you’ll find a large variety of foods to choose from.
My friends got the honey wine and they said it tastes good.
The service was amazing. It’s a family business and I love that.
Definitely coming back here again!

Enjoyed an incredible Ethiopian dinner tonight! The injera was light and spongy, and each dish had its own rich flavor. Warm vibes, amazing spices, and great service. Highly recommend!

Absolutely love Sheba! When we lived in Bethesda, we’d stop in often. The food is INCREDIBLE, with large portions & Injera aplenty, hands-down best Ethiopian food in the DC area imo. The owners are wonderful, lovely people who always make us feel immediately at home. We live in NYC now but make sure to come back every time we are back in Montgomery County (usually 1-2x per year). Order the Sheba (meat) combo — my faves are the ater kik, tibs & yebeg alicha! Could not recommend more highly!

Sheba is the best! Food, hospitality and ambience was wonderful. Highly recommend the family platter, the tiramisu, the injera crisps and of course an Ethiopian coffee to finish off after an amazing meal!
