We’re visiting from Chicago and heard about Shay & BAEEE, so we decided to book them for last-minute catering today — and they came through big time. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, full of flavor, and seasoned perfectly. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about it.
The portions were generous, delivery was smooth, and the entire experience was easy and professional, especially considering how last minute it was. While they were here, we were told the business is transitioning into Hook’D Seafood Express with a new menu coming, and after tasting the food, we know it’s going to be next level. Every now and then you stumble upon a spot that feels like a hidden gem, and this one truly does. The food has that soulful, home-style flavor that makes you stop talking mid-bite just to appreciate it. The lamb chops were tender and perfectly seasoned, and the sides were rich and comforting without being heavy.
The staff were friendly from the moment I walked in and made the experience even better. You can tell they take pride in what they serve and want everyone to enjoy the food as much as they do. The portions were generous, the service was quick, and everything tasted freshly made.

This place is incredible!!! My partner and I stopped in for takeout after reading so many positive reviews and their pictures looked amazing. Did not disappoint. We ordered the platter ($68) with shrimp, 3 crab clusters, sausage, potatoes, corn on the cobb and hard boiled eggs. The seasoning was great and there’s plenty of buttery sauce to dip everything in. So much food for two with leftovers or a third person.

I got the personal Platter for $20. Walked in an placed an order at the restaurant. There was no seating, just some booths to wait for take-out. The atmosphere was very welcoming. Someone took my order promptly. They told me 25mins, but it ended up being around 35min wait, during which time another customer came in and sat down only to leave after not being greeted for quite a while. They didn’t provide any sauce even though it says it comes with some. I would’ve liked some butter for the crab. The sausage was way too salty. The corn on the cob was bland. The crab was decently cooked. The potatoes though were absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately after seeing my bank statement a few days later, I got charged $29.76 which is far above the $20 listed price and I never got a receipt to go back and show them.

This food is truly like nothing else I’ve ever had since moving to Pittsburgh. Seafood was fresh, mac n cheese was authentic, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back for more!!

Upon entering, I greeted with a friendly smile and a warm welcome from one of the owners, Shay.
They have very extensive menu and had a nice variety of food available.
There are two benches available to sit down on and wait for you order; however, this is purely a to-go spot, so there were not any dining tables. The prices are consistent with similar restaurants in the city, plus the portions are huge, so no complaints there.
Now let’s talk food!
First, let me say they had some of meatiest, juiciest, lamb chops I’ve had from a restaurant in a while. Cooked to order, tempature of choice, and flavored sooooo well.
Let’s get into these candied yams y’all. Bravo to the chef, he made them perfect! Sweet and soft through every bite, and not one ounce of bitterness or crunchiness.
We came at the end of night so we missed the Mac and cheese, but I will make sure to come early next time.
If you are looking for a place with a little soul and seafood, check them out. You will not regret it!!!

We arrived at 2:15 not realizing that they closed at two on Sundays, and they let us in anyway! They were very kind and welcoming, answering all of our questions, and then suggested some of their favorites. Decided on the big seafood boil with cajun honey seasoning. It was amazing, large portions, and delicious. Straight 5 Stars!
