If you’re hunting for a solid Mediterranean fix while power-shopping near St. Matthews, this spot is a hidden gem that’s worth the stop. Located right in the heart of the prime shopping district, it’s the perfect tactical pitstop between hitting the big-box stores and the mall.
The standout feature here is the customizable chicken shawarma. Unlike traditional spots where you just get what you’re given, this place operates with a “build-your-own” flow that feels very much like a Qdoba or Chipotle. You start with a base and then move down the line, pointing out exactly which fillings, pickles, and sauces you want. The chicken was well-marinated and had those perfect crispy edges from the vertical rotisserie, and being able to load up on extra garlic sauce and pickled turnips without an upcharge was a huge win.
The size of the place did throw me off slightly at first. While it’s primarily designed for quick service, they do actually offer a spot to sit down if you manage to grab a seat. There are a few dine-in chairs and around eight small tables, mostly two-person setups. It’s cozy—definitely not a large, sprawling restaurant—so you might have to wait a minute during the lunch rush. It still functions very well as a grab-and-go spot, but having those tables means you can unpack that perfectly built shawarma wrap right away while it’s at its absolute freshest. For a quick, high-quality meal in a busy area with a few seats to rest your feet, you really can’t beat the flavor or the efficiency.

Yay!! New favorite shawarma spot! Just tried it today spent over $100 because there was so many good things on the menu that I wanted to try. I basically ate lunch there and then ordered a bunch of stuff to have for dinner later for me and my brothers. The workers were so kind and helpful and accommodating, even when I was confused ordering no one rushed me. The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh. And the service was great. We ordered so much stuff and it came out so quick. They even offered to stammer the release of our to go food so that it would be warm when we left. I thought that was super nice. I love supporting local businesses, and this was just an overall great experience with great food. Highly recommend!! My only regret, is I didn’t take pictures of my food will definitely be doing that next time because it was as beautiful as it tasted!
P.S. If you’re a sauce person, you will absolutely love this place. They have so many sauces. And every single one of them is delicious my tip is to combined sauces on your rice bowl. It is so good. The next time I go in, I’m gonna make shawarma nachos!

I have been waiting for this place to open. I love their unique build-your-own concept. The food was very flavorful and delicious. We ordered the veggie bowl, falafel bowl, and shawarma wrap. Anything fried is made to order so expect it to take a little longer. They have vegetarian and vegan options, specifically the sauces, but you will have to ask. Service is a little slow right now, assuming that is because it’s new, so hoping they are just working out the kinks. The owner and employees were very kind and friendly, and they truly want their customers to be happy. I really want this place to do well, the food was great, and I will be returning!

This new restaurant has opened up in the Shelbyville Rd., Plaza. I was very excited to see it as I love Mediterranean food. They are very new. They just opened in January. They’re still trying to figure out their groove. So please give them time to figure out what’s best for them. The menu is expansive. There are nine different meals that are already pre-plans that you can order in those come with fries or chips or your other option is building your own dish, which can either be a wrap or a bowl. I decided to go for a rice bowl with falafel and then choosing my toppings. I went with the pickles, tomato cucumber, and the white and red sauce to top it off. It did take a while to get my dish, but that was mainly because they made my falafel fresh. I would definitely go again, and change up my options that I would add to the dish itself. I think this place has a lot of promise and I will be back.

Delishious and very good prices and super clean. Food was freshly made right in front of us…so the falafel and fries were piping hot [my 86 year old mother appreciates very hot food]…2 of us ate the falafel wrap and fries. Owner is wicked nice and friendly and professional. High recommend Shawama Shack across from Louisville Trader Joe’s. Enjoy. Giddy up.
