Partner and I were really excited to try this place. The guy who took our order was rude and not very inviting. The food was very disappointing. Literally couldn’t even finish it. I felt like I threw away $30.
The chicken kabob tasted dry and weirdly fishy. The rice had noodles mixed in. The humus was okay, but the bread wasn’t very good. Everything was SUPER bland. The tzatziki sauce though….. not going to go back.

I must say when I order sweet potato fries I always end up with a soggy fry.
I decided to take a risk and ended up with extremely CRUNCHY sweet potato fries. I approve.
I also approve of my chemical romance playing loudly
The SAJ was good although I have no other Saj I’ve ever eaten to compare
Also posted a nice photo of storefront so it can be featured

Terrible. After a couple of bites, I threw the gyros away. It was the second worst gyro I’ve ever had, right above the cart that was on 146th and stark that put ketchup on my gyro. This was at least better than that.

I’ve had many Gyros and Donairs (Canadian) throughout my life and this one was inedible. Stale pita topped with withered shredded lettuce, covered in hot unseasoned dry beef, with a heap of flavourless tzatziki, add some strangely sliced (but not all the way) chunks of unripe tomato… don’t forget the hunks of raw bitter onion on the top to finish it off. My partners wasn’t any better, just swap the dry flavourless beef with dry flavourless falafel. I usually give places multiple try’s before giving a 1 star but this was a spectacularly awful + expensive inedible meal. Love spending $30 for hot garbage!

The dude with pepper colored hair & sharpie eyebrows is by far incredibly rude! He was quick to grab my card out of my hand & when I kindly asked if they had a buzzer he rudely said “no, be ready in 6-8 minutes!” It’s been 15 minutes now and I’m just freezing!” They suck & I’ll never be back. I’ll also tell ALL my family & friends to NOT come here! Just shut down already…

Went here yesterday and purchased a chicken gyro and a beef shawarma gyro. The ordering process was simple the proprietor was nice and accommodating. The gyros were good, lots meat and veggies. The sauce he picked for me was delicious a little hint of spice. Very cohesive dish. Would definitely recommend

Been at this cart yesterday and apparently there was no internet, so the guy at the cart couldn’t use the Credit card machine and instead of asking for cash (which I had), he plainly and bluntly denied to sell any food.
When I enquired why he wouldn’t take cash and ask for it instead, he was like I don’t have time for it, I am busy (when there was no other customer at the cart and I was the only one). That was one of the rudest answers and attitude I have seen at a food cart so far.
This guy had a very rude attitude from the beginning, not sure if he is like that with all the customers or certain ethnicities.
Its not just about Food, Manners and Hospitality matters a lot in a Restaurant business, definitely wouldn’t recommend this Food cart or there food to anyone after this experience.

I went to this place for the first time yesterday with a friend. I ordered the lamb saj with garlic sauce, and I thought it was pretty good. My friend, on the other hand, did not have a good experience. The clerk named Ahmed did not communicate well and raised his voice at my friend several times regarding the selection of available sauces. He also refused to tell my friend what was in his food. Overall, the food was fine, but I did not appreciate Ahmed’s unfriendly demeanor.

I am a gyro fan, and I am constantly on the hunt for rich, flavorful, crispy gyros, from San Francisco to Athens. That said, Shawarma Express is FANTASTIC. Feel free to salivate as the chef makes your dish with meat shaved fresh off the rotating spit, hear its delicious sizzle on the grill, and know that it tastes even better than it looks. I have tried quite a few gyro carts in Portland, and THIS is the clear winner.
UPDATE: There are two Shawarma Express carts–one on Washington and the other on Alder. Pick the one on Washington: the meat was chopped smaller, cooked crispier, and the rice softer. Both are still flavorful, but for whatever reason, the Washington cart was clearly superior.
