I ended up ordering the mango milk tea and the spicy pork bibimbap. My food take a little longer than my partner’s to come out which always leads to that awkward “should I start or not?” question. Thankfully it didn’t take too much longer for my food to come out.
The milk tea tasted great! Very refreshing and not overly sweet. I wish there a little bit more mango flavor but it was by no means bad. The real star of the show was the bibimbap. The portions were large and all of the food tasted fresh, very flavorful, and came out hot. Although the restaurant seemed unassuming this was probably one of my favorite bibimbaps I’ve ever had.
The staff were also very nice and apologized for the wait. They come and collect your plates when finished. I highly recommend trying this place out if you’re in the area even though parking can be a bit tricky!
We accidentally placed the wrong order at first, but when we asked if it was possible to change it, the staff handled everything so kindly and smoothly. From taking our order to the moment we finished our meal and left, they never once lost their kind and attentive attitude. The service was truly professional!
Food was also really great. It wasn’t overly salty or spicy. it was clean, comforting, and deeply flavorful, the kind of Korean food that feels well balanced and thoughtfully made. (Even in Boston!) We’ve tried several Korean restaurants in the area, and I can confidently say this one stands out as one of the best, both in taste and services. Highly recommended.
We took an apetizer Crispy Seaweed Noodle Rolls, the Kimchi Stew, the Chicken Katsu and the Bulgogi Bibimbap.
To drink we took a water and a Fruity Passion Tea with mango boba pearls.
The apetizer was interesting, but unusual, definitely an acquired taste with the tansparent noodle, but I liked that it was light despite being fried.
The Chicken Katsu was really good, fried and crunchy and savory without adding any souces to it, but even better with one.
The Kimchi Stew was delicios, hot like lava initially, so you have to give it a moment, but it was very flavourful and less spicy that I was expecting, which is a plus for me as I don’t eat super spicy foods. So if you want to try it but you are afraid it is too spicy, give it a chance.
The Bulgogi Bibimbap was also delicious, I didn’t expect the portion to be so big and to have such a variety of veggies. There were a mix of steamed zucchini, spinach, sprouts, carots ad probably some raddish, aroud a bed of white rice and topped with the beef and the egg, all flavored enough, but if you want they give you some sauces to add, which I did because I like trying them all.
I had a very good first impression, and if I weren’t living so far, I would definitely come more often to try more menu items.
I also liked the service, you can order from your phone with a QR code on the table, the place seemed very clean and with a lot of natural light coming in from the wall high windows. I liked that the waiter did a very thorough cleaning of the table next to us after the big party of people left. The ambience music was ok, although I expected some korean k-pop to be there to fit the theme better, but it wasn’t bad at all.
The price for being so close to Boston wasn’t expensive at all, we paid around 75 for all this, with taxes and tip included.
I reccomend it to everyone to try it. ❤
MSG. Many Korean restaurants in Boston tend to shy away from using too much of it, likely due to its negative perception in Korea. The result? Fast-casual Korean dishes often lean heavily on sugar, which leads to a sweeter taste that doesn’t quite match up with their authentic counterparts. Sharon Korean Kitchen isn’t the first place I’ve noticed using MSG, but here, it was unmistakably in the spotlight. While some light appetizers, like dumplings and crispy seaweed noodle rolls, come pre-made, most of the dishes—especially the meats—had a noticeable MSG presence that was hard to miss.
So far, I’ve tried their Kimchi fried rice, spicy beef soup, beef short rib soup, and the bulgogi bibimbap. Aside from the bulgogi, every dish delivered a crazy umami punch. I’m not opposed to MSG in fast-casual kitchens, and Sharon Kitchen’s use of it was well-executed, without being too overwhelming. The Kimchi fried rice and beef soup, in particular, were addictively good—possibly the best versions I’ve had in the city, flavor-wise. Still, it’s hard to give all the credit to the kitchen when MSG is doing most of the heavy lifting.
Overall, the food here reminded me of the quality you’d find at rest stops in Korea, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it’s the perfect spot to satisfy my guilty pleasure for Korean fast food. If you’re not against MSG, I highly recommend giving them a try.
We were passing through but we will definitely figure out a way to return!
I plan to try some of their other offerings at some future time, but I am quite happy with the spicy seafood tofu stew right now.
I tried the spicy rice cakes as a takeout order and did not like them at all. Not that much flavor IMHO except for the taste of chili pepper.
Parking is a pain, since the area is so busy. I tend to have to circle a few times to find a spot or resort to DoorDash if I don’t want to deal with traffic and parking.
Protip. If you want it spicier ask for it. They will make it more.
