Tonight, my family and I went to Shanghai for dinner. I wish we hadn’t! When the waiter came to take our order, we asked if they could replace our order with an alternative since we don’t eat pork. The waiter politely said he needed to check with the kitchen and went inside. Later, the restaurant owner/boss Kim, came out angrily and started shouting at us rudely in front of our children and other customers. She didn’t even let us explain or speak; she shut us up. We were shocked because we had been to the same restaurant a few times before and they had replaced our order without any problems when we said we didn’t eat pork. All we wanted was a nice dinner in peace with our children! The owner, Kim, could have politely said in a lower tone that they couldn’t change the food! It would have been a more civilized and polite behavior in front of our children and other customers. The employees, having witnessed their boss’s rudeness, apologized on her behalf, but the damage was already done. The only good thing I can say about the restaurant is the staff. May God help all the employees, because who knows how a boss who treats customers badly treats her employees!!

Lovely little place, we turned up as walk-in’s whilst staying in the area, the lady that greeted us asked us to take a seat for 5 minutes as they were really busy, as she went to seat us she then said she could offer us a more spacious table. Food was brought out quickly and was delicious and staff were really friendly & made conversation with us, only a small restaurant so woyld recomme t booking in advance – 10/10 would definatly visit again!

We absolutely love Shanghai. Service is always fantastic , attentive but not too much. Food is always fantastic with ample portions , lots of variety and super tasty. For the quality the price is spot on , always fresh and delicious. Can’t wait to come back !

From the moment we walked in, the staff were very friendly and attentive. We ordered the banquet for 2 at £33 per person. And oh my lordy, everymouthful was just delicious. The portions are a good size too. We have lunch sorted for tomorrow .

I came back to this place for the first time in about 10 years and it was every bit as good as I remembered. Everything about our meal was exceptional. We had the Banquet B for two and left absolutely stuffed. The ribs in particular are to die for. The service was excellent – speedy and friendly. It is worth knowing that you have to call between 10-2 to make a reservation – we didn’t know and missed our window, but luckily they were able to fit us in on the night.

I haven’t been to the Shanghai in many years it brought back a lot of family memories. We came here for my Dad’s birthday and I was pleasantly surprised how the quality of their food has remained consistent to how it tasted when I was a kid. Even the building interior hasn’t changed (I think an upgrade is needed) The staff were very friendly, our waitress was very cheerful and checked up on us often. We ordered Banquet B and shared a pot of Chinese tea. The food was great with a nice variety of dishes on each course. The shared platter for the starter was my favourite it was perfectly presented and had something for everyone. If you’re looking for a Chinese restaurant in Chester, this is the place to go.
