I have always loved Shanghai Express and it’s always been my comfort food. I was so sad to see the tiniest portion of chicken I have ever received when I opened my box at home. From other reviews, it seems like this was not a fluke. I hope they listen to the reviews and bring the old portions back. I don’t know if it’s just new owners trying to save cost, but doing this will lose more money than it would save them. I only gave 2 stars because the flavor is the same, but I hope to be more excited next time I open my to go box from there.

Everything is in Togo containers with plastic utensils. You have to go up to the register to order and then they expect you to bus your own table.

Fairly expensive for the small portion size. Service slow- food wasn’t ready 20min after stated time. Staff very pleasant but forgot parts of the order and didn’t realize it until I was already home. On a positive note, the flavors were good and ingredients were fresh.

Oh, my! First time takeout at Shanghai Express. Ordered Garlic Shrimp with fried rice and 2 egg rolls. Over $21. Worst Garlic Shrimp EVER! It was not prepared in a thickened Garlic sauce as one would expect…they literally took their hot/sour soup and added handsful of cabbage, some boiled Shrimp and a few veggies. It was a nasty, soupy mess! Not seasoned, couldn’t be saved by adding soy sauce. Fried rice was tasteless, egg rolls barely warm, not freshly cooked. Staff was courteous, service was fast.

Sketchy, ugly bright yellow, dirty looking building should have been a red flag! We ordered beef and broccoli w/rice and egg rolls. When we opened our containers there was a distinct oder of bad meat….very strange odor that I’ve never experienced at any Chinese restaurant. Just seeing the outside of this establishment made us nervous to eat it. We ate a little bit…then threw it out. Very pricey as well…we wont be going back. I guess we need to drive to Springfield for good chinese.

I had the cashew chicken and my mom had the seafood. Love the food here and a very good price too. I don’t know why they are never BUSY when I go.

Its a little restaurant but the food is great. They have dine in and drive thru. The sweet and sour chicken was so good. The breading was extra crispy. The only thing we didn’t care for was the music. They had one station playing in the dinning room and a very different kind playing in the kitchen. The two music competing were very distracting and gave me a headache. If I went back I would do the drive thru.

I have always uses Shanghai Express as my go to Chinese restaurant. Although a little more expensive than some places I was always happy with the portions and quality. I recently went to grab a lunch for 2 and spent $30 plus dollars. As I said I wasn’t surprised by the price but was very surprised and disappointed when I opened my box at home. It was less than half of what I normally receive. My wife’s meal was the same. When I took a bite out of my chicken it was dry and not the same quality I was used to. I know food costs have went up, however when a customer of many years comes by and suddenly is served smaller portion than usual its disappointed. Please reconsider portions Shanghai.
