Great stop for some comforting Chinese food! Dishes here lean on the sweeter side but are still delicious. The soup dumplings and pan fried buns are your best bet. Don’t ignore the specials written on the boards!

There’s a Chinese restaurant I pass by every day on my way to drop off my daughter, so I decided to stop in. Since it was my first visit, it’s hard to fully evaluate the entire menu, but based on what I had today, the food was average overall.
The most disappointing part of the experience was that, while we were still eating, the staff began clearing our dishes without asking. It felt as though they were rushing to prepare the table for the next guests. That said, the house fried rice was the most enjoyable dish of the meal.

Best soup dumplings ever. Consistently good food, fresh, hot and tasty. Service is good but not the most friendly. But all in all an excellent experience.

We will avoid this restaurant because of its service. The curry chicken was average at best and I wouldnt recommend it.

Orange chicken and Tofu eggplant were two options worth trying.

Overall, the food is good and is worth a try. We ordered a bunch of items and thoroughly enjoyed them.

The thing that we hated most about the place was its service. The waitress was clumsy at best where she spilled water on the table and took 5 mins to bring napkins to clear it up. She did it again to the table next to us. Anytime we requested anything, she would forget and needed another reminder.

When we gave her 12% tip, she had the audacity to call us back and demanded 18% tip.

Shanghai Bun in West Windsor offers a decent dining experience for those craving authentic Chinese cuisine. During a recent lunch outing with my son, we sampled a variety of dishes including pork soup dumplings, wine chicken (served at room temperature), spicy beef noodle soup, and pan-fried chive buns.
The standout dish of the day was definitely the spicy beef noodle soup, which delivered bold flavors and just the right amount of spice to tantalize the taste buds. The pork soup dumplings and pan-fried chive buns were also enjoyable, meeting our expectations in terms of taste and quality.
In terms of service, we found the staff to be attentive and accommodating, ensuring that our needs were promptly met throughout the meal.
While Shanghai Bun may not be for everyone, it delivers solid food and service that are in line with expectations. Overall, it’s a decent option for a casual lunch, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return in the future.

If I could give the food negative stars I would, other than the dumplings I ordered sesame chicken, it was fat balls of mystery chicken that were undercooked and coated in sugar water, never go here for anything other than dumplings, service and atmosphere was great though, might need to hire a new chef.

During a recent dining experience at Shanghai Bun, we had the opportunity to try a variety of dishes. While our expectations were high, the overall experience left us with mixed feelings. While the food was decent, we couldn’t help but feel that we have had better meals from them in the past.

The selection of dishes we ordered was extensive, encompassing various flavors and textures. However, despite the diverse array of options, we found the overall execution to be average. The flavors lacked the distinct punch and authenticity that we had come to expect from Shanghai Bun. While some dishes were satisfactory, they failed to leave a lasting impression.

One area where Shanghai Bun fell short was consistency. While we have had exceptional meals at this establishment in the past, this particular visit did not live up to our previous experiences. It left us longing for the exceptional flavors and culinary craftsmanship that we had come to associate with Shanghai Bun.

Despite the disappointing food experience, it’s important to note that the service at Shanghai Bun was friendly and attentive. The staff members were courteous and promptly attended to our needs. However, we feel that the overall dining experience relies heavily on the quality of the dishes served.

The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The traditional decor and comfortable seating created a suitable setting for a relaxed meal. The noise level was moderate, allowing for conversation without overpowering background noise.

In conclusion, our recent dining experience at Shanghai Bun was average, leaving us with mixed feelings. While the service was commendable and the ambiance enjoyable, the food fell short of our expectations. We have previously had better meals from Shanghai Bun, which leads us to believe that this visit may have been an exception rather than the norm. We hope to see improvement in the future, as we know the potential for exceptional flavors exists within Shanghai Bun’s kitchen.

We found this place while searching for good restaurants around Princeton and thought to give it a try. It is usually full in the evening. The chicken dumplings with peanut sauce were amazing and liked it a lot. Egg plant and tofu was good. We also liked the seafood soup. The spicy chicken was okay. The quantity was good enough and the items were moderately priced too. The server was very friendly. Overall it was a good experience and would visit again of we are in Princeton.

Was a NYPD Detective, and many a nights after closing out a case, the men and women in my squad would go to Chinatown to Woh Hop which is a Legitimate Chinese restaurant. I have to say, this place hits the mark. The taste of the food was exactly what I expected, Good Chinese food
But don’t let me be your judge, see for yourself, and enjoy. GREAT FOOD!!! No fancy decor, just great food. Our server was great, and our food was hot. Have a good time.

Great, really authentic true Chinese cuisine (Shanghai style). The restaurant Shangai Bun takes up the space of the old (and not quite popular) Indian restaurant Ganges that went out of business years ago.

The prices are good, and the portion sizes are more than generous. Honestly, their average main course could be shared between two people.

Not to be missed is the restaurant’s traditional appetizers section, Dim Sum.
The service is friendly and efficient.

If you are a culinary adventurous type and would like to sample the really authentic Shanghai specialties, we would suggest you look at the restaurant’s menu online and do your research. Some staples, such as tendon and black mushroom gluten puffs, need some getting used to.

We stopped by at the rather unusual time, briefly after 5 p.m., on a Friday. Shanghai Bun was almost full. That should give our readers a rough idea of how popular the restaurant really is.
