When we looked up the best Dim Sum place in Michigan – it was recommended that if we can go across the river to Windsor, Canada- then we should try out Shanghai Bistro and boy- that was a very good recommendation. As you first walk in, you are greeted by a person making dumplings- and the smell that is filling the restaurant- delicious. The place was pretty crowded when we got there for towards end of a Saturday lunch- but got seated right away. Got several dishes to share and my friends and I left plenty full. I snuck a glance to the other tables and the food they ordered looked scrumptious- so definitely want to come back and check it out.

Shanghai Bistro has been my go to for a long time, the soup dumplings are amazing. Comfort food at its finest.
My usual is cheese and chive soup dumplings, pork and chive boiled dumplings, fried pork buns or bbq pork bun (soft bread), spicy wontons, pork siu mai, beef and broccoli, and any thick udon noodle dish.
I also really like the general Taos chicken combo!
The atmosphere is nice, and always busy. They also wrap the dumplings right at the front of the restaurant which is very cool to see!
Check them out!

This is literally my favourite Chinese place in Windsor. The General Tso is sooo good. The price and portion size is amazing as well. A go to place if you are in the area!

I wish I could give more than 5 stars for food and service. I’ve now been here twice and both times the food was amazing. The vegetable fried rice is full of fresh veggies. The beef and broccoli was very flavorful (sorry no pictures). The shrimp fried rice was also very good. They also make dumplings by hand by the entrance. 🙂
Whenever we visit family in Detroit we take the drive to Shanghai Bistro. The service is amazing. Kiko is truly something else. She ensures your order is right.
I highly recommend this restaurant. Be aware they’re closed on Tuesdays!

Everything was delicious. Soup dumplings, Shanghai noodles, general tao, shrimp
Rolls. All uniquely flavoured and nothing bland. Good and efficient service and large portions. No complaints!

We have been looking for Soup Dumplings in the Metro Detroit area for years and finally found this place. Dumplings were fantastic and the rest of the food was excellent as well. If you haven’t tried Soup Dumplings in the past this is the place to start with. Service was great and attentive and the bill was very reasonable.

The food here is really good – fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I could go on about it, but honestly, it speaks for itself. In my opinion, this is one of the best spots in Windsor and the surrounding area for Asian cuisine. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Btw. General Tso’s Chicken it’s exactly how it should be: crispy on the outside, slightly spicy, with a touch of sweetness. Everything is well-balanced and freshly made.
Highly recommended!

I went to this place to grab some dim sum. I ordered soup dumplings, ginger tripe, pan-fried dumplings, and cuddle fish. A few of the soup dumplings were still frozen inside, but they were still good. The rest of the food was pretty good too. It was a great place to get some quick dim sum.

It was my first time here with friends last Saturday. I ordered the pork and shrimp siumai and hargow, and I have to say, this has been the best dim sum I’ve had in Windsor so far. The siumai had good meat and well-seasoned. Both were served hot and had a homemade feel to them.
Service was prompt.
The dining area and the washrooms are clean.
I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from their menu!
